Virtual Learning Week
April 12-16
Reminders for the Return to School April 12

  • The week of April 12-April 16 all students are on the distance platform... SJS will be 100% distance learning for all students.

  • All students are expected to be in their distance classroom every day, for every class. Attendance will be taken and missing students will be marked absent.

  • We will use the instructional model we used successfully for previous virtual weeks. As a reminder, the school day runs 8:00AM-12:00 for teacher-led instruction. Between the hours of NOON and 2:00PM, students take their lunch break and complete classwork. Teachers will hold office hours from 2:15PM-3:15PM to answer questions and meet with students to review classwork and retreach concepts. Teachers will provide students with specific expectations for the office hours meetings.

Families are reminded that the week April 12-April 16 is not an extension of vacation time. Please use the week as a time to quarantine, and limit contact with those outside your bubble.

The goal of the book club is building community and helping each other through a pandemic. It is not intended to be therapy or family counseling. Please seek the assistance of licensed practitioners if needed.

Spring uniforms will begin when students return from Easter vacation on Monday, April 12.
Nurse's Corner
Reminder regarding over the counter medication (OTC) and prescribed medication:

Per policy, all OTC and prescription medications are to be kept locked in the clinic/school office and be administered by the school nurse, clinic aide, principal or trained designee. No student is to carry/possess medications, without appropriate medical authorization. No medication will be administered unless the school has received a signed copy of the Medication Authorization Form (Appendix F-6). OTC medications do not require a health care provider’s signature unless the medication is required for four (4) or more consecutive days. It shall be the student’s responsibility to come to the clinic/school office at the appropriate time for medication unless a health care provider or parent/guardian indicates in writing that the student cannot do this.
Students are NOT permitted to self-medicate. The school does not assume responsibility for medications taken independently by the student.

Click HERE for a copy of the medication authorization form for your convenience. Part I and Part II must be completely filled out and signed for this document to be valid.
Doctor's note required for orthopedic boots, cast, splints and devices

Per policy, if your child requires crutches, boots, casts or splints or any orthopedic device, you must send in a doctor’s note that states limitations for physical activities and your child will remain in the clinic with the nurse during recess (SJS allows your child to go out with their classmates for recess for fresh air but they are not allowed to participate in physical activity). Additionally, a doctor’s note is required if your child is unable to participate in Physical Education classes.
