Thank You! - Blessing of the Backpacks

We thank you for supporting all the students and staff last weekend for their backpack blessing. It was great to see such happy and excited child and adult faces at all four Masses. Also, thanks to Theresa and Tess who put together the gift for each student. May we remember to keep praying for all students to have a positive year with confidence, hope and grace.

Faith Formation Class Registration is Still Open!

Registration for 2022-2023 has been ongoing since July.

Please visit our parish website, www.stanthonyprospect.org, and click the link under Faith Formation to register. A late fee applies now, after August 15th. This greatly helps us plan for the number of books, teachers, classrooms, and reserving of the church for activities. Thanks to the families who have sent in their fees.

Any questions please reach out to Andrea Brown or call 203-758-4848, ext. 19!

Faith Formation is Accessible!

God made us to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him, and to be happy with Him in heaven.

We are all children of God made in God’s image. Everyone has a unique capacity to know and to love God.

The sacraments are for all of God’s children.

If you have a child with special needs, St. Anthony Faith Formation

will make every effort to help your child receive instruction

and to receive the sacraments.

Please reach out to Andrea to let us know about your amazing child!

Blessing of Animals -

Save the date!

The Blessing of the Animals is a beautiful annual ceremony celebrating the human-animal bond, originating from a Roman Catholic tradition as part of the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment. St. Francis is one of the most beloved Catholic saints.

Please join us on October 8th at 9:00 am in front of the Church!

Advent Celebration of Lessons and Carols -

Save the date!

Save the date for our Advent Celebration of Lessons and Carols on Sunday, December 18th at 7:00 PM.

The Saint Anthony’s Music ministry is delighted to begin Saint Anthony’s First Annual Advent Celebration of Lessons and Carols by candlelight. The celebration is a service of music and scripture on the final Sunday of Advent to celebrate the arrival of Christmas. In the service, we journey through the nine lessons that recount of the Fall of Man, the Promises of a Messiah, the Incarnation, the Epiphany, the Word Made Flesh, and the Great Commission. Each lesson is followed by a hymn, carol, or song that reflects the purpose of the scripture. A celebration nearly two centuries old, it is a perfect way to prepare your hearts and minds for the coming of Christ.

We are looking forward to seeing you there, and a reception will follow as we gather together as a parish family to begin our preparations for Christmas!

Donations Needed!

We are seeking wine bottle donations from parishioners for our 60th Anniversary Celebration Event on October 15th. We will be collecting until October 8th. If you are willing, please donate a bottle of Josh brand wine (red, white, or rose). You can bring your bottle and place it in the crate on a Saturday or Sunday at the back of the church, or bring it to the Parish Center during business hours. Any leftover bottles will be raffled at the November fundraiser. Please consider donating, especially if you are unable to attend the event.

New Welcome Committee Members Needed!

The Welcome Committee is looking for new smiling faces and welcoming hearts to help out at the Faith and Friendship Gatherings once a month, after the Mass that you attend.

We are also searching for a new member to take over the mailing of the Welcome packets to the new parishioners.

If you are interested, please call Terri at 203-527-3097

or email terrikeiser@hotmail.com

Thank you!

Gospel Reflection:

“This one began to build but did not have the resources to finish.” – Luke 14:30

If I had to choose one of the Bible’s 31,102 verses to have inscribed on my tombstone, it would be Luke 14:30.

As a companion piece, my obituary could tell the story of my life through the list of projects I never finished. Swimming lessons in preschool. Piano in the sixth grade. Every journal I’ve ever tried to keep. That trip to Europe. The house my husband and I designed and never built. My life is littered with these unfinished projects, races for which I could not make it across the finish line. Whether it was strength, interest, money, or something else, I just didn’t have “it.” I came up short... click here to continue reading!
