Join this weekly opportunity to share ideas, strategies, and support in a relaxed setting, guided by trained facilitators. Through the valuable insights of the other parents and reading the book A Parent’s Guide to Gifted Children, you will learn more about giftedness, discuss the challenges of parenting, and share strategies for supporting our gifted children while enhancing family relationships. These parent groups are not therapy sessions; however, participants often find the sessions to be therapeutic, empowering and comforting. Topics include:

This 7-session online series is co-facilitated by Sylvia Bagley and Karen Thornton.
Sylvia Bagley, Ph.D., is director of the Instructional Leadership Masters Specialization at the University of Washington in Seattle, and was formerly an elementary school teacher and instructional math coach. She co-parents three twice-exceptional (2E) kids between the ages of 8-12, is Chair of SENG’s Education Committee, and was a former Board Member of the Northshore School District HiCap Parents Council. Karen Thornton is the current president of Northwest Gifted Child Association and has served on the board for three years. An experienced facilitor, she loves sharing resources and ideas with other parents, particularly resources related to executive functioning, intensities and deep emotions. Karen is the proud mom of two PG 2E kids, a 6 year old son in 1st grade and a 10 year old daughter in 5th grade.
The cost for the parent group is $95 and covers the cost of the facilitated, 7-session online series and registration for one or two parents/caregivers. Book to be purchased separately. Needs-based scholarships available, simply use code SCHOLAR at the time of registration.
Group discussion is guided by the book, A Parent's Guide to Gifted Children by James T. Webb, Janet L. Gore, Edward R. Amend, and Arlene R. DeVries. The book can be purchased online through sellers like Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
