Offsite Food Distribution Update
AFAC is excited to announce that two existing food distribution sites (Arlington Mill and Gates of Ballston) will now be opened up to the wider community, making them more accessible to any Arlington resident in need. To read more, click here.
Home Deliveries Update
In April, we made our 10,000th delivery of groceries through our Home Delivery program! Established in March 2020, the Home Delivery program was created in direct response to the pandemic to reach residents who were in quarantine or were homebound due to a severe short or long term medical condition or disability. Thank you to all the staff, volunteers, and supporters who are making this program a success!
APS Award
Earlier this month, AFAC was named Arlington Public Schools Community Partner of the Year! We work closely with school social workers to enroll families in need in our food distribution program. Many classrooms also support us by holding food drives for AFAC. We are honored to receive this award and are grateful for this partnership!
AFAC in TIME Article
Bruce Horovitz, an AFAC volunteer, published an article in TIME about how young workers are actively seeking jobs that do good. In this article, Bruce interviewed Chabeli Wells, AFAC’s Volunteer Coordinator, and Charles Meng, AFAC’s CEO. To read this article, click here.
