Children's Church during the Sermon

THE METHODIST MESSENGER

Making disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.

Here we are just a few weeks away from Easter. Our Ash Wednesday service introduced us to the season of Lent and our Wednesday lunch series is going well. Plans are underway for the Passover Seder.  Seating for this is limited so don’t wait to make your reservations. Call the church office to reserve your ticket.

And now for something completely new since covid, EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE! We have been invited to have a sunrise service at the home of Steve and Mary Lynn Tinkle. Just 3 miles out of town on lower Arcadia Road. Their property offers easy access and a beautiful, pastoral vista to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord. The service will be at 7 am. We will also offer a 10 am service on Easter morning as well.

As a member church of the Global Methodist Church, our calling at First Methodist is to worship passionately, love extravagantly and to witness boldly. All this begins and ends with Loving First. First, we love our Lord and Savior, next we love our neighbors as we love ourselves.  Not to make too much of a point on this, but our church finances could use some extra loving from our members. We are blessed to have funds that have been donated and invested as endowment gifts to the church. We use these funds from time to time as needed. Please help us to not use these funds by faithfully and regularly supporting First Methodist through your giving. We do so much in the name of the Lord, lets all make sure our giving shows our support for the ministry of Jesus in and through First Methodist. I truly believe that we are blessed to be a blessing. See ya Sunday!

Blessings, Pastor Malcolm

"And now abideth faith, hope, and love, these three, but the greatest of these is love."

1 Corinthians 13:13

Our Bible school teacher had us memorize the whole 13th Chapter of Corinthians when I was just

ten years old. I have believed in it and tried to live by it ever since. It tells us that, no matter how talented we are, no matter what our accomplishments might be, or how successful we might become in the eyes of the world, if we don't have love in our hearts, we are nothing. Doing good works because it is expected of you, or because someone will admire you for it does not measure up.  You must seek to have a compassionate heart - a heart of love. Dear Lord, help us to do away with hatred and evil in our world. Help us to love one another as you have first loved us. Thank you for all the wonderful people we have had the opportunity to love. Please always be with us, and help us to share Your love with as many people we can during our lives here on earth. Amen.
