City Council to hold Redistricting Public Hearing
The Cleburne City Council will hold a public hearing to receive public comments regarding the redistricting plan under consideration and to receive redistricting plan submissions. The public hearing will be held at the regularly scheduled City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at 5:00pm in the City Hall Council Chambers, 10 N. Robinson St. Guidelines have been adopted for persons interested in providing comments and/or submitting proposed plans for consideration.

Following the 2020 US Census, the City is required to re-evaluate its single member district boundary lines from which council members are elected based on demographic data provided by the Census Bureau. The Initial Assessment Report confirms a population imbalance of 18.26%, which is more than the 10% benchmark, and therefore requires the four council districts be redrawn to comply with federal and state law.

The Council held its first drawing workshop on July 7, 2022, and the redistricting plan under consideration is available on the City’s website.

For questions, please call the City Secretary’s Office 817-645-0908, or for more redistricting resources, visit the city’s website.
