KRISTINA'S WEEKLY EMAIL OF THOUGHT-PROVOKING ESSAYS & VIDEOS TO KEEP YOU CONNECTED TO YOURSELF ON THIS JOURNEY CALLED LIFE
A NOTE FROM KRISTINA:
Greetings!

Earlier this week I went to the wake of a friend's mother; the week prior I found out that a friend who was suffering greatly since last March ended her life, a tragic murder trial is currently being televised, and we woke up today to the news of the passing of a monarch. There too many other public figures to name who have died recently, and I imagine many of you out there have been experiencing the passing of people in your lives over the past 12 months.

If you are grieving, or struggling in any way, please know that you are not alone. Please reach out to a friend, family member or service to help you cope and feel more connected. (One resource you can use right at this very moment is Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741 for free, 24/7 crisis counseling)

Death and dying have traditionally been such difficult subjects to broach in our society - and I certainly won't attempt any sort of deep dive here - but one thing that can perhaps be of comfort is looking to Nature for an understanding that death is a part of life, and that hope springs eternal as we see the flowers and buds slowly start to emerge once again.

With the loss of life being such a focus for a while now, it's a good reminder to take a look at ourselves and contemplate how we who are still here are actually living. And sometimes the deaths we experience are more symbolic ones, so remember to let go, recognize, honor and grieve those as well, trusting that they are making way for something totally new, or a new version, to be birthed. And no matter what, be gentle and loving with yourself and others. We're all dealing with a lot right now!

Today's PGG essay touches on these themes, and the PGG Video of the Week reminds you to take like seriously and think for yourself. Today's Instagram post is a great quote about nirvana (no, not the band ;)

Lastly, if you look forward to and benefit from these weekly missives and PGG essays and want to show your gratitude, any donations for my efforts are welcome and appreciated here: Paypal.me/kristinaleonardi. And as always, please feel free to contact me with any comments about anything.

Big hug <3

Joni Mitchell Never Lies

Don’t it always seem to go, that you don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone. ~ Joni Mitchell (via Janet Jackson here)

I recently read that we have about 100 billion neurons in our brains, which also happens to be the approximate number of stars in the Milky Way, further illuminating my belief that macrocosm and microcosm are mirrors of each other.

We are all experiencing some facet of the same reality, some piece of a greater whole (which is why so many of you wonder how I could know what’s going on in your life every week…!). Until we start to truly comprehend that concept, there can be no real progress and we kiss that bright shiny future goodbye.

At some point in our lives we have all suffered or have been witness to the loss of loved ones, a job, our health, money, minds, homes, pets, friends, freedom, security, dignity, identity and the list goes on. And it seems like we’ve been losing more than ever over the past several years, doesn’t it?

When so many experience loss at the same time, it provides an opportunity to bond and elicits an empathy that might not normally be there. The challenge is to keep this awareness on a daily basis so we can honor each other and appreciate what we have when we have it, but at the same time be sure we don’t fall into a perpetual pity party or throw in the towel, because if we work at it and are patient enough and have the right perspective, Things Can Only Get Better

Loss also moves us to seek purpose and meaning and to recognize what is important in life, which is pretty much the same for everyone. The more of us who embrace that fact, the more we will desire and take responsibility for creating peace and understanding in our own worlds.
