MPH Trojans in Action

Prior to the break, MPH photographer Chuck Wainwright '74 captured some great shots during the JV and Varsity Volleyball games and the Modified Basketball game. Take a look at the photo galleries by clicking the images below.
From the Nurse's Office
New York State has opened the eligibility criteria for COVID-19 vaccines to anyone 16 and older. To learn more about this opportunity, visit the NYS Department of Health’s information and registration webpage. We encourage anyone who gets vaccinated to let our school nurse know by emailing here.  Having an idea of the vaccination rate within our school community helps the Pandemic Response Team make more informed recommendations to the community about appropriate health and safety protocols.
What's For Lunch?

We continue to be grateful for the hard work and dedication of Brock employees, led by Chef Christine. Providing 400 lunches a day, with close attention to dietary restrictions in the midst of a pandemic, is no small feat! We thank you!
Prepping taco salad
Smoked turkey with pepper jack and avocado on ciabatta

Anxiety on the Rise Conversation

Tuesday we welcomed Barb Shepard, LMHC, PLLC to the MPH Community Conversations Series. Her presentation, "Anxiety on the Rise: Parenting Teens in the Age of Anxiety," covered a wide variety of topics, including:

  • Stats about the rise of anxiety in teens, and why kids are trending toward more anxiety symptoms today than in the past.
  • Normative stress vs. a clinical anxiety diagnosis (and risk factors that can cause this).
  • Warning signs for parents to watch out for in their children.
  • Techniques for how parents can support kids with anxiety through fostering the self-confidence to work toward fears rather than to utilize avoidance.
  • Information on how COVID has posed unique challenges for kids this year and how adults can help.

If you missed the conversation, you may view the recording by clicking the image below. You may also find the resources below helpful.

MPH Community Donates More Than 5,000 Needed Items
to Wipe Out, Sock, and Can the Pandemic!

One healthy way our community has worked through the challenges of the pandemic is by reaching beyond ourselves to offer a helping hand to others. The Onondaga County Health Department has helped keep our community healthy by providing regular, on-campus COVID-19 testing, free of charge. Our MPH4MPH Club members have invited our community to “pay it forward” by participating in testing-day drives to collect needed items for our neighbors. To date, we have donated more than 5,000 needed items to the Food Bank of Central New York, the Samaritan Center, and – this past Monday – the Ronald McDonald House. Exercising our core value of kindness benefits the health and well-being of the giver as well as the receiver of kindness. Thank you for your kindness!
