Kindergarten Registration

Help us spread the word - Kindergarten registration is happening now for 2022-2023!

If you live in Lake Washington School District (LWSD) and your child will be five years old on or before August 31, 2022, it is time to register your child for Kindergarten! Registration for all K-as LWSD students is online. All necessary documents can be accessed on the LWSD website and completed documents can be uploaded securely. Parents who are unable to upload documents may send them by U.S. mail or drop them off at their neighborhood school.

Remind your friends and neighbors to register their incoming kindergarteners now! Our priority date for registration is April 1, 2022. Registering by this date will help us ensure that we have teachers and staff in place for our first day of school in September.

Read more about Kindergarten registration on the district website: Kindergarten Information - Lake Washington School District (lwsd.org)
Heritage Night
Looking for Volunteers

We are looking for volunteers to help make this evening a success. If you would like to host a booth, perform or help out on the day of the event, please email Mansi at schoolservices@normanrockwellpta.org

Rockwell PTA
Message From Your PTA Sustainability Chair
The best part of volunteering in this position is to witness the community coming together to make a difference.

Dear Rockwell Families,

The Green Schools Program Level 1 focuses on reducing waste and increasing recycling at school.

Now, what about the waste generated from items brought home from school?

They usually are items that are durable, last beyond lifetimes, and end up in landfills. They are small, fun, educational, and bring a smile on any kid's face. They are in art, craft, and homework. They are in Valentines', Halloween, and Birthday goodie bags. They are in Trophies, Medals, Prizes and Tokens.

This is a huge opportunity for a Student Green Team to take on and make an impact within our local community.

Green Tips

Legislative Action
HB1799 (Diverting organic materials from landfills, increasing composting, and reducing food waste) passed.

Important Dates
April is Earth month.

Have a great week ahead!

Sustainability Chair, Norman Rockwell PTA
Class Picture day
March 29

We are getting our class pictures taken on Tuesday, March 29th. Every student and staff member will receive a class photo at no cost.

  • Families who have opted-out of publicly publishing your child's image will be excluded from the class picture and the individual picture page. You will receive an email from Mrs. Hatch seeking your approval to waive that decision for the yearbook and include your child(ren).
  • 4th graders have a field tripe scheduled for this same day. We are scheduling these pictures for the start of the day. Students will not have time to change outfits, please dress for the field trip.

Everyone should dress for the weather.

Pictures will be taken under cover.

Riddles!

Q. You find me in December, but not in any other month. What am I?
Q. I am tall when I am young, and I am short when I am old. What am I?

Jokes!

Q. Why did we tell the actors to "break a leg?"
Q. How do you brush a bee's hair?

_______________________________________________________________________

Question of the week: How riddles originated?

Riddles evaluate your critical and logical thinking skills, like this one "Imagine you were in a dark room; how do you get out" The answer? Stop imagining!

The oldest riddles dated a long time ago, the first discovered riddle dated about 4,000 years ago in fact! They were written in Cuneiform, the writing of the ancient Sumerians. One riddle that dated back a long time ago was "There is a house. One enters it blind and comes out seeing. What it?" Answer: a school.
