HANEMANN TO BECOME PSE&G PRESIDENT

Kim Hanemann will take over as president of Public Service Electric & Gas on June 30, becoming the first woman to run the state's largest utility in its 118-year history. She'll succeed Dave Daly, who will retire after 37 years at PSE&G. 

Hanemann joined PSE&G as an associate engineer in 1986 and has held leadership positions in both electric and gas field operations. This week she was honored as part of the Inaugural Alliance for Action Salute To Women in Construction Awards Program. 

MONTCLAIR STATE UNIVERSITY NAMES KOPPELL NEW PRESIDENT
Jonathan Koppell, presently Dean of the Arizona State University Watts' College of Public Service, has been named the next President of Montclair State University. He succeeds Dr. Susan Cole, who was Montclair's leader since 1998. He begins his new duties on August 2.
HINCHCLIFFE PROJECT IN PATERSON SECURES FUNDING 

The Hinchcliffe Stadium project has secured $94 million in constructing funding to finance redevelopment of the former Negro League Baseball Stadium. The package includes a $60M construction loan via Goldman Sachs, along with $10M in New Market Tax Credit and Historic Tax Credit equity.

ØRSTED TO OPEN NORTH AMERICAN DIGITAL OPERATIONS HQ IN NEWARK
 
Ørsted  will open its North American Digital Operations HQ office in Newark. The new office will initially house 20 staff, including 12-14 IT positions to be created during the balance of this year.

ALLIANCE HONORS WOMEN CONSTRUCTION PIONEERS 

First Lady Tammy Murphy joined the Alliance for Action on Wednesday morning to provide the keynote address at the inaugural SALUT E TO WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION Awards event. The honors were given at the Alliance for Action's first in-person event in more than 15 months.

The Inaugural Class of Honorees Includes:
  • Lisa Chowansky, President of HC Constructors
  • Linda Gardner, President of Brent Material Company and Caterina Supply
  • Kate Gibbs, Deputy Director, Engineers' Labor Employer Cooperative
  • Kim Hanemann, soon to be the new President and COO of PSE&G
  • Jayne Warne, President of Matrix New World Engineering

Lisa Ballerini, the President of Montana Construction, chaired the event and also received an award for being one of New Jersey's women trailblazers.

ALLIANCE SUPPORTS NEW TERMINAL FOR TRENTON-MERCER

The New Jersey Alliance for Action has testified for the record in support of the new Environmental Assessment for the planned new terminal at the Trenton-Mercer Airport. This is the key component of the Airport's Master Plan Update, which was completed three years ago. The present terminal was constructed in 1975.

LOCKHEED MARTIN TO ADD 400 JOBS

Lockheed Martin is set to relocate its Vertical Launching Systems (VLS) production from Baltimore to Moorestown as part of an expansion that will add nearly 400 jobs in the next two years.

VLS production will include more than $10 million in investments in new production facilities and tooling. The jobs will mainly include high-paying engineering positions.

  • Jim Fakult, President of JCP&L and a board member of the Alliance for Action, became the new board chair of the NJState Chamber June 1.
     
  • Genova Burns LLC, announced the promotion of two attorneys to Partner. Jennifer Roselle, Esq. and Lawrence Bluestone, Esq. have been elevated from Counsel to Partner at the Newark-based firm.
