Attendance -64: 24 minister members; 21 ruling elders; 5 corresponding members; 13 guests; 2 presbytery staff.
The Presbytery Gathering began with a festive atmosphere, as Mike Shepherd was commissioned to serve as Eastminster Presbytery's commissioner at the 226th General Assembly next month. Then, pastors who are retiring were honored for their years of dedication and service. There were heartfelt speeches and expressions of gratitude for their leadership and guidance throughout the years. The pastors honored were Francie Fischer, Steve Stelle, and Victor Wan-Tatah. Sharing highlights of their ministries were Paul Fischer, Adam Rodgers, and Mike Shepherd.
As the celebration continued, the congregations of Calvary, Canfield, Champion, First Barberton, First Hudson, First Mineral Ridge, Guiding Light, Heritage, United, & Westminster Boardman, were recognized and honored for their outstanding achievements in evangelism and church growth. Their hard work and dedication to spreading the message of the Gospel and growing their communities were commended and celebrated by all in attendance.
During the celebration of worship, we had the privilege of hearing words about the Cameroon Community from Gerald Nkwate, a member of United Presbyterian Church who also serves on session. Worship concluded with Rev. Chris McCurdy presiding over communion.
There were also moments of learning and growth, as workshops were held to provide insight and guidance on various topics related to ministry and leadership. The sharing of knowledge and experiences was a valuable opportunity for everyone to continue to grow and learn in their faith journey.
Amidst all the celebrations and learning, the most important aspect of the gathering was the sense of community and fellowship among all the attendees. Being surrounded by their siblings in Christ, sharing in the joys and challenges of ministry, and supporting one another in their faith journeys was a truly uplifting and empowering experience for all.
As the presbytery gathering came to a close, there was a sense of gratitude and thanksgiving for all the blessings and opportunities to celebrate together. The bonds of fellowship and community were strengthened, and everyone left with a renewed sense of purpose and inspiration to continue their ministry and service to God and His people.
The designated offering was the Welcome Home Ministry of United Presbyterian Church, a ministry that helps the Cameroon Community settle into new housing, allowing it to feel like a home.
