Congratulations to St. John's 2021 graduates! Not only did they accomplish major feats, but they also did it during a pandemic. These amazingly resilient young people have shown us what true endurance, integrity, and sacrifice really mean. Even during a worldwide pandemic, while the world was shut down, they never stopped shining God’s light through the darkness. Class of 2021 we commend you and all your hard work! Congratulations to Eve ElmahiKnox Greene, Willie Huggins, Faithe Johnson, Marissa Norton, Grace Whipple, and Ollie Woodham. May God continue to shine through you! ~ Liesl Gavronsky-Howsare

DESMOND TUTU: A Spiritual Biography of South Africa's Confessor by Michael Battle
June 3 | 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. | Join Zoom Meeting
Battle maintains that Archbishop Tutu is not only a presence on the South African and world stages, but he is also a Confessor (a person who put Jesus and his message foremost in all he said and did) and a living Saint. Though he often faced the threat of martyrdom, he has lived to become one of the world’s most prominent religious figures. Read the review by Jay Wright. Books are available in the Cathedral Bookstore & Gift Shop!

Diocese of Florida Prayer for the Election of Our Bishop
Almighty God, giver of every good gift, we pray that you would look graciously upon the Diocese of Florida, and so guide the minds and hearts of the Nominating Committee as they prayerfully select candidates for the election of the next bishop of this diocese, that we may receive a faithful pastor who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries: Guide also the minds and hearts of the candidates who will come before the Nominating Committee, that this process will be a time of discernment and growth in their lives and ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Day of Pentecost
In addition to welcoming everyone home to celebrate the Day of Pentecost on Sunday, May 23, St. John's Cathedral hosted a Diocesan Training session for Lay Eucharistic Ministers led by Deacon Saundra Kidd in Taliaferro Hall. At the same time, the Vestry was on a retreat in Ingram Lounge led by the Rt. Rev. Henry Nutt Parsley, retired tenth Bishop of Alabama and a former Chancellor of the University of the South, entitled Practicing Resurrection. Together they reflected on the pandemic experience of the past 15 months. Thanks to Michael Corrigan for the photos of the Vestry Retreat.
