PES Principal Message

10/2/20
Congratulations to Anna Smith, our September Heart of a Teacher Recipient!
Puster Families,

We are excited to be adding 61 students to our campus beginning second quarter, October 13th. In most cases, we did not need to make a change to schedules and teachers, however there were a few exceptions. Teachers will be sending out an email on Monday, Oct. 5th with your child's placement (if applicable) and any schedule changes that may have occurred.

With the addition of on-campus learners, we plan to be just as diligent with our safety procedures as we have been. We've had a great first quarter and we want to continue to keep it that way! At home, please continue to screen your children before sending them to school (see p. 24 of Fall Planning Guide). This is the first step in helping us keep our staff and students healthy.

Tomorrow is an early release day for students. We will dismiss at 12:00. Please make an exception in School Dismissal Manager if your child will be going home a different way than normal.

Have a great weekend!

Puster Proud,
Holly

Foundation for Lovejoy Schools

It’s not too late to give to the Annual Appeal campaign. Every gift makes an impact. Invest today in our students’ tomorrow.

Our goal is to raise $250,000 and have 40% community involvement. The students of Lovejoy ISD are touched by Foundation dollars in every school and grade throughout the district. Now, more than ever, they need our support to ensure no interruption to the Lovejoy standard of exceptional learning.

New this year, three giving options! Teacher Grant Fund, One Heart. One Lovejoy. Fund, or a 50/50 split. Visit our website today to learn more and donate!
Note from the Nurse
This is just a reminder that ALL medication (including cough drops and throat lozenges) must be brought to school by a parent. I will meet you at the front desk with a medication permission form and will take the medication from you directly. This is for the safety of all of our children. If you have any questions, you can always reach me by email at Janet_abramson@lovejoyisd.net or by phone at 469-742-8282. Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the beautiful weather.
Learning with Your Librarian
Hello Parents!

We have had a truly great week here at PES! This week we started our library lessons and they have been going so very well. It was a real joy to be able to get into classrooms and not only share lessons with the kids but to be able to get books into their hands. This week we read a fun story about starting school and the importance of considering other's perspective. If your student is interested, there are some extension activities relating to our story this week that are posted in the library Seesaw. I will continue to post these activities for all of our lessons moving forward.

For our next pick up day, students have the option to put a hold on a book via our Destiny Catalog system as well as request a librarian-selected book based on their interests. For books to be available for pick up they need to be requested prior to the Friday pick up day. Anything requested on or after the pick-up day will be prepared for the following week. Due to the fact that Mrs. Peabody and I will be in classrooms for most of the day, we have started placing the books in the front office on Friday mornings you can pick your books up there as well as return past books.

If you had requested a book via the form this week or last week, and you want an additional book next week, you will need to either resubmit the form or email me to let me know that you would like another book.

For more detailed information on how to complete these requests and to make sure there is a book available for you to pick up please review the following document.

Happy Reading,

School Dismissal Manager Fast Facts
Here are a few Fast Facts that you will need to know for getting started:
1.  Please use this website to log in to SDM at www.schooldismissalmanager.com. The initial login is best completed from a computer as opposed to your phone.
2.   The Parent Login area is found at the top right of the SDM homepage.
3.   When you log in for the first time, you will be required to change your password immediately.
4.   Please refer to the Parent Guide for Creating Exceptions for details on how to use the system.
5.   As you begin to use School Dismissal Manager, if you have questions, please check the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) link found in the Parent login area at the top of the SDM homepage. Here, you will find answers to the most commonly asked questions. If your question remains unanswered after checking here, please contact the school office and we will be happy to assist you further.
6.   When you start to receive the email notifications of changes or cancellations that are made for your child, please keep in mind that hitting Reply or Reply All on those emails does not reply to the school. If you need to respond to a notification (i.e., to inform the school it is incorrect, provide additional details, etc.) please call the school directly and talk with someone in the office.
7.   Each school day, School Dismissal Manager will send a comprehensive dismissal report to the school immediately following the cut-off time, allowing administrators and staff to facilitate a smooth dismissal.

Thank you for using this tool to help us keep the dismissal process safe and orderly for all our students.
