Message from Our President

Greetings!

At the end of 2021, the world was concerned with the worst inflation most of us had seen in our lifetime, but
excited about the post Covid world ahead. Supply chains were beginning to stabilize, Covid vaccines and natural immunity were bringing the fear of Covid to an end, and the world was once again on the move.

Our early-2022 optimism quickly faded, as Russia went in for the final bite of Ukraine and global energy and food markets quickly reacted with sky rocketing prices. China, in pursuit of their zero Covid policy, shutdown cities like Shanghai, one of the largest commercial ports in the world, and the supply chain crisis was back on. These, and a myriad of similar events, continued to stoke inflation flames that each and every one of us has, and continues to, live with.

An eternal optimist would say, the best thing about 2022, was that 2021 already gave us the play book, and we knew how to react. We all knew prices were changing so quick it was hard to keep up, raw material supplies were spotty at best, and nothing really became easier, we were just used to it.

Manufacturing continues to face many of the same challenges, where material and labor shortages are still the norm. Easing Covid protocols has helped some with staffing struggles, but manufacturers like Pleiger Plastics are at a disadvantage because it is impossible to work remotely and make the custom highperformance parts our customers need. Pleiger Plastics biggest success in 2022 was keeping our team together, which allowed us to increase deliveries to our customers while also improving our On-Time
performance for our customers. Everybody’s life if a little easier when you can get everything you need when you need it.

As we enter 2023, the same worries are still there, but our objective is stay positive and continue to do what we do well, and improve on the things that we can do better. The facility expansion that was on the books will continue, investments in new equipment and personnel will be made again, new materials and markets will be investigated, and all the things that have made Pleiger Plastics’ last 36 years successful will be continued.

We want to thank all of our employees, customers, and suppliers for their efforts in 2022 and wish them a safe and successful 2023. While there is always uncertainty about what the future brings, we at Pleiger Plastics will do our part to continue moving the ball down the field as your trusted partner.

News You Didn't Know You Needed

The past two years have demonstrated that the familiar formula of minimizing costs and maximizing efficiency in global supply chains is no longer enough. The system of just-in-time inventory failed miserably. Now, supply chain analysts insist that redundancy and resilience should be added to the equation to decrease supply chain disruptions.
Researchers have developed a system that can transform plastic waste and greenhouse gases into sustainable fuels and other valuable products -- using just the energy from the Sun.
The researchers, from the University of Cambridge, developed the system, which can convert two waste streams into two chemical products at the same time -- the first time this has been...
Chemical and environmental engineers detailed a method to convert plastic waste into a highly porous form of charcoal that has a whopping surface area of about 400 square meters per gram of mass. It could potentially be added to soil to improve water retention and aeration of farmlands.

University of California, Riverside, scientists have moved a step closer to...
