University Leadership Transition Update
Dear Assumption Community,

I hope this message finds you well as the University community looks forward to Easter, then celebrating the accomplishments of the Class of 2022 at Assumption’s 105th Commencement.

Please know the University’s Board of Trustees is committed to providing faculty and staff regular updates on the transition process. I am pleased to provide you with another update on the Board’s progress on that process thus far.

Transition Committee Established and Regularly Meeting
A Transition Committee comprised of a small group of Trustees and key advisors was established and is regularly meeting. Since both the interim and permanent presidential appointments will require full Board approval, weekly meetings of this committee are underway with priorities, milestones, and timelines established.

Identifying an Interim President for Assumption
A key priority for the Transition Committee is identifying and recommending to the Board an interim President as expeditiously as possible. The Board’s goal is to install the interim President by early June so that he or she may have ample time to collaborate with President Cesareo to ensure a seamless transition. In evaluating candidates for the interim leadership position, the Trustees are seeking the skills and experience required to ensure continuity and momentum on academic programs, on enrollment, on student success, on faculty and staff development, and on philanthropy. Collectively, these and other priorities will be supported to achieve Assumption’s educational mission and deliver upon our promise to students.

Ongoing Collaboration with University Leadership
The Transition Committee is also working with President Cesareo and the Cabinet on key decisions that will need to be made in the next three months to enable a smooth transition for the interim President. One such decision is moving forward with the search for the next Vice President of University Advancement.

Commencing the Presidential Search Process
The Trustees are also in the process of forming a Presidential Search Committee. This committee will be responsible for identifying and recommending the next President for the University. Please know additional details on this committee and the search process will be shared soon.

I again wish to offer my gratitude to President Cesareo for his 15 years of leadership and to each of you for your continued commitment to the University and its students. Know that the Trustees will continue to provide regular updates during this process to identify the next generation of leadership for Assumption.

Sincerely,

Francis J. Bedard, Esq., CPA '81
