Spring into Cycling Campaign Results

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Spring into Cycling campaign! 21 participants either cycled independently or with members of their household during the campaign and shared 13 videos and 227 photos of their rides. Click here to download an infographic to view full campaign results.

81% of participants worked at SCMRH workplaces
53% of participants were residents of either Markham or Richmond Hill
43% of participants cycle at least three times a week
43% of participants cycled outside their municipality of residence

Bike Month Results

A warm congratulations and thank you are extended to everyone who participated in this year’s Bike Month! York Region residents collectively made 100 bike trips that covered 3,356 kilometres and avoided 845.7 kilograms of emissions. 96% of these trips were made for recreational purposes while other purposes included commuting to work or running errands.

York Region 2022 Transportation Master Plan

York Region is conducting a Transportation Master Plan Survey for Business Communities to gain insights into how citizens travel for work in their communities. The information collected will help inform an update to the Transportation Master Plan (TMP), the Region’s guiding document for planning walking, cycling, transit, and road improvements to the year 2051. Please share your experience and what you’d like to see in the future. The survey will be available until August 27, 2021.

The Smart Commute program is customized to meet the needs of the community and your organizations to reduce congestion and act on climate change. Smart Commute helps businesses and the community improve their employees’ commutes by providing the support, resources and incentives to boost cycling, walking, carpooling and transit ridership. Making the Most of your Home Office: Telework Tips from Smart Commute Markham, Richmond Hill

In this 22-minute webinar, SCMRH offers helpful tips for employees working from home, including the importance of home office ergonomics, where to create a workspace to optimize efficiency and how to perform simple exercises that are beneficial to your physical and mental health.
