The Holy Spirit Empowers Me To ____________.
We would love to hear some of your answers to this statement. Sunday explored how the Holy Spirit has empowered people at Crosstown. How is He working in you? Please share your thoughts with Polly this week. We would love to be able to share some of your answers in the June 6th worship service.
NOTE of THANKS!
I want to thank the congregation for the celebration of our 15 years of ministry together on Pentecost Sunday! By the end of worship, I was SPEECHLESS! It was a joy for me to hear your expressions of encouragement and support through the words shared by Pastor Polly as well as the notes I received. One of those notes contained the words, "the best is yet to come." As we move forward, I commend this hopeful pathway to all of us. "In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the 1st day until now" (Philippians 1:4-5).
Adopt -a- Camper
This year we have 18 students heading up to Covenant Pines Bible Camp. That's the highest attendance in 5 years. We are again looking for members to adopt a camper. You will send an encouraging note or email to a student while at camp. This is great way to live out our value of multi-generational community. Contact Polly or Angie to adopt a camper. Info sheet on how to contact a camper is here.
Six campers are still waiting to be adopted!
Nursery Opening- June 20
The nursery will be fully open for drop off on June 20, 2021. Crosstown's nursery is a safe and fun place for our children ages 3 and under to be loved while their parents participate in worship! All our volunteers will be masked at all times, and we welcome children to be brought into the nursery any time from 9:05-end of service. All our volunteers will have background checks!
Why are families in the nursery if it's not opened yet?
Until June 20th the nursery is a reserved space for a "soft opening" trial. We are working on adding a TV to the room to help volunteers and children participate in worship. The rooms are being updated and repurposed. One of the repurposing plans it to make specific space for the reimagined Galilee Gang. Yep, if your kiddos have aged out of the nursery we will have something for them soon, too!
Volunteers needed!
Do you find joy with babies and toddlers? Would you consider joining our team of nursery volunteers? Welcoming volunteers, 6th grade and up.
Also, welcoming opportunities as Nursery Assistants, open to 4th & 5th graders. Find out more information about volunteering here. Talk with or email Polly
SAVE THE DATE
June 13th at 11:00am we will host a required training session for all nursery volunteers.
Please raise your hand soon and contact Polly.
Crosstown's Longest Running Ministry Hangs Up The Apron
Curious about the 45-year history of the Spice of Life ministry? Check out this blog post about the call to launch Spice, the evolution of Spice's ministry, and the fun memories.
Family Play Dates
This summer the Children's Commission is hosting 6 family play dates at various playground locations and times around the Twin Cities. Check out your church app or the children website page for date, time, and location details. It's time to enjoy some fellowship to the sound of kids' laugher. What could be sweeter?
Global Missions Update
Through the leading of the Holy Spirit, Crosstown is working on a fresh vision for global mission. Kathy Anderson (kathleen-anderson@comcast.net) has offered to give leadership to this effort. The 1st step is a gathering in early June to dream and envision a new day for Crosstown's engagement with Jesus' global call. We invite you to participate by contacting Kathy and expressing your interest to her.
A Wonderful May Fun Fest Report
Huge thank you to Crosstown for all the help to make May Fun Fest a huge success! Thank you for inviting, volunteering, praying and prepping! We had over 100 guests, many invited by people! The cotton candy and bounce house obstacle course were the big hits, with awesome carnival games and crafts, too! What a wonderful morning!
Thank you Rob, Wayne, Rhoda, Matt, Isaac, Zane, Aleana, Chloe, Marcia, Bonnie, Amy, Lucie, Kay, Katie, Roman I., Kasen, and Ben!
Service Opportunity- June 12
We are in the process of organizing a service event on June 12th in partnership with Senior Community Services. SCS is a nonprofit that helps seniors in Hennepin County stay safely in their homes. SCS will partner us with senior neighbors in need of yard help or house projects. We are planning to meet at 9:00am in the church parking lot to pray, and then go to the homes assigned to us for the day. This is a great opportunity to serve, as well as to invite a friend to serve alongside you.
