After a lot of planning and hard work, our new website is up and running! Go check it out!
Knowing that will be the first point of contact between prospective families and GCCS, we wanted to be sure to offer as much useful information as possible, presented in a compelling way. For example, there are virtual tours for our elementary school, middle school, and high school. We also have a short video where we share what we believe is the value of Christian education, and why our schools are an excellent choice.
Our thanks to everyone who put in so much work in making this happen, and a big "thank you" to Digital Renaissance and Render 3 Media for producing the videos and VR tours.

Third Graders Making Volcanoes |
|
Making a volcano and then creating an eruption? Now that sounds like a lot of fun while learning. Monday, Mrs. Todd's and Mrs. Brougher's class started making volcanoes, and if you ask us, I think the teachers enjoyed getting messy as much as the kids did.
On Friday, the two classes brought their volcanoes, a little baking soda and some vinegar out to the field to watch them explode. There were screams and cheers heard as the teachers showed off their eruptions by using diet soda and mentos candy. One 3rd grader yelled out "I LOVE SCHOOL!" What a fun day to be in 3rd grade!

No educational experience in southern Oregon is complete without a trip to the Crater Rock Museum in Central Point. Our third graders took a field trip Wednesday to see one of the greatest collections of rocks, gems and indigenous artifacts on the West Coast. |

Our eighth graders and chaperones embarked on an incredible journey this week to our nation's capitol and points nearby to see American history up close. In a whirlwind tour of historic sites, they have seen the White House, the Air Force Museum, the Iwo Jima Memorial, Ford's Theater, the Arlington National Cemetery, the Museum of the Bible, the MLK Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, and the Museum of American History, plus Jamestown. Colonial Williamsburg and Monticello. Stay tuned for more pictures next week as they conclude their trip. What an amazing experience for this group as history comes alive! |

Small Act of Kindness Has Large Impact |

On Veteran's Day, an act of kindness by an 8th grade student from Medford, Oregon, made a lasting impression on a Vietnam veteran visiting colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. The following is a message is an email received at CCMS from Ret. USAF Col. Gordon Bosch:
As a Vietnam veteran, my wife Karen and I were enjoying today in Colonial Williamsburg taking in the various Veteran’s Day programs. While walking along those Colonial streets Allyse Lane drew my attention and said “ thanks for your service” and provided a postcard with an extremely touching note of thanks and gratitude to an American veteran. And more importantly expressed her faith in God, her country and to a fellow American she did not know prior to today. She will always be remembered by me! Her faith and kindness are such a good example of what young people are and how they can make such a positive impact with even a small gesture of kindness. It made our day. And Alyse, Thank You! I will always remember your kind words today.

Alyse Lane is one of our students on the US Heritage trip. Teacher Debby Swope says that students were given cards prepared by their tour guide Tami. Miss Swope says the students lit up and kept asking for more cards as they encountered several veterans during their visit.
What a great story! What a great illustration of what a simple act of kindness can do. Below is a picture of Alyse with her group. She's the second from the left in the Nashville, Tennessee shirt.

We have much to be thankful for. Some hardworking members of our ASB team decorated our hallway across from the student office with a turkey, clothed with feathers listed the things we were thankful for.

VOLLEYBALL
Challengers volleyball coach Rob Kleker was named Far West League Coach of The Year for volleyball, and six of his players were named among the league's best for the 2021 season. Coach Kleker and his team were honored at the team's award night this week.
Sophomores Maddi Carter and Maddie Todd were first team all-conference selections. Sophomore Molly Griffin received second team all-conference honors. Senior Callie Sweem, junior Ellie Harrington, and freshman Poppy Freeman were honorable mentions.
GIRLS SOCCER
For his encouragement and steady leadership with his young soccer team, Cascade Christian Coach Jonathan Hillis was named Special District 5 Coach of the Year in 3A/2A/1A girls soccer.
Three Challengers girls were first team all-district selections. Senior Katie Erno- a four year starter received first team honors, along with juniors Bella Williams and Autumn Murray. Junior Ellie Vanlandingham was an honorable mention.
FOOTBALL
Coach Jon Gettman credits his unsung heroes, his offensive line for paving the way for Cascade Christian's 40-30 victory over Junction City in the first round of the Oregon 3A football championships. Bryson Cannon, Matt Moses, Daniel Nering, Liam Benade, and Jaxon Turituri were instrumental in allowing their teammates to roll up over 500 yards of total offense against the Tigers. Next up for the Challengers is a quarterfinal rematch against Siuslaw on the road.
CROSS COUNTRY
Jake Sorani concludes his highly successful cross country career at Cascade Christian with a fifth place finish at state with a time of 16:45. Freshmen Henry Giomi-Brown, Tayen Landers, and seniors Brandon Parker and Grant Walker were all newcomers to high school cross country and finished with times under 25 minutes. Steady junior Austin Skelton- a part of the program since his freshman year, ran a 22:26.
