ARBOR CARE SERVICES

Trimming is only part of Tree Care maintenance. Proper maintenance includes trimming, fertilization, and disease/insect control. Ken Kelly, our Certified Arborist and Pest Control Advisor encourages you to be cognizant of the following.

Asian Citrus Psyllid

The Asian Citrus Psyllid continues to be a major problem for Southern California Citrus. The Asian Citrus Psyllid feeds on citrus leaves and stems and can infect citrus trees with a bacterium that causes a serious plant disease called Huanglongbing, also known as HLB or Citrus Greening Disease. While not harmful to humans, the disease kills citrus trees and has no cure. Contact Finley’s today for information on preventative care specifically tailored to address the Asian Citrus Psyllid.

Fire Blight

Fire Blight is caused by the bacterium Erwinia amylovora and affects common fruit trees such as Apple and Pear trees. Of Pear trees, Pyrus kawakamii is the most susceptible. The disease enters the tree at the time of blossom through meristems and flowers forming lesions on the young branches and leaves. Branches die at the meristems at first and move back leaving dead leaves attached to the tree. If left untreated, the disease can kill shoots, leaves, limbs, blossoms and occasionally the entire tree. Contact Finley’s today for information on preventative care specifically tailored to address Fire Blight.

Fruit/Olives

Tired of the mess from fruit droppings? There’s a simple fix. Finley’s can treat your Olives with a growth regulator able to prevent the fruit before it forms. Timing is of the essence when it comes to fruit prevention so don’t delay, contact Finley’s today!

TREE CARE SERVICES

The “Tree Season” is in full swing. Winter is the perfect season to schedule your tree care services as some species are dormant, trimming will help lighten the canopy and reduce the occurrence of limb failure/leaf litter, and the cool temperatures are ideal for trimming Pines.

Additionally, routine maintenance and fertilization can make a huge difference in the health, appearance and longevity of your trees. Don’t hesitate to ask your estimator to include fertilization when drafting your proposal.

Similar to routine maintenance, the action of ‘crown reducing’ trees in support of view restoration is recommended for the cooler winter months. Give Finley’s a call today and we’ll be happy to help coordinate your service with adjacent neighbors, the city, or HOA representatives
