News You Can Use: January 27, 2023

Dear CCGS Families,

We had a wonderful week at school and the kids were able to get outside and make some snowmen earlier in the week, which was so much fun to see! We have several items in this newsletter including some upcoming events like a bowling night and a family reading night coming up. Thank you so much for the donations of change and for contributing to the school store. We were able to raise almost $2,500 to support two families with medical expenses. On Monday, we will be having a whole school pajama party to celebrate how giving our students were. The winning grade was second grade and they will get an extra recess during the week. We have such a giving community!

  • Dental Exam Visits: Illinois dental exam forms are due for all kindergarten and 2nd grade students by May 15th, 2023. Exams can be dated within 18 months of the due date. Please email nurse Chelsey with any questions at cellen@y115.org. Thank you!
  • Black History Month: This week marks the first day of Black History Month. Students will be learning about famous black Americans and the impact they have had on our country.
  • Parent Feedback Form: Please fill out this form to give a teacher positive praise or to ask questions that others may have. I love sharing your feedback with teachers and it brings a smile to their faces! This last week a parent asked about the Valentine’s Day parties. Although we are not having volunteers, due to not having designated parties, kids will be participating in activities throughout the day. We are open to volunteers in the building, so if you would like to run or create a fun activity for the kids, please email your child’s teacher. It may not be that day, but they would love for you to come.

Congratulations to this student who received a Shout Out this week and was chosen in a raffle to lead the Pledge of Allegiance the week we return. We are so proud of our students who follow the four cornerstones of CCGS.

Congratulations to this class for being leaders and showing kindness at recess and in the cafeteria. They will get to keep the trophy in their classroom next week and will get a recess with Dr. Hamm and Mrs. Anderson.

Happy 2023!!

We are doing so great with the readathon but if you haven’t registered your readers, there’s still time, here is the link again. https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/CoTmpQ/1

and following the simple instructions.

The Proceeds from this Read a thon and other family events that we are doing this year goes back to our school for our teachers, kids and staff.

The Read a thon company did have some technical issues and all should be resolved now, so contact Tiffany if you see any issues.  So we can fix them.

You still have time to ask family and friends to sponsor

your child's reading for CCGS.  Make sure your log is up to date and use the dashboard (it's a great tool when looking for sponsors.)

Thank you everyone who supports the CCGS PTO, we couldn’t do this without the support of our families and the volunteers.

Follow our Facebook page to stay aware of CCGS and Y115!!

¡¡Feliz 2023!!
