The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department (LPFD) is once again offering Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training. Classes will be held from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings from May 17 to June 21, and will include Saturday, June 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Classes are held at the City of Pleasanton’s Operations Service Center and the LPFD training grounds on Busch Road in Pleasanton.

Classes are free and open to those who live and/or work in the cities of Livermore and Pleasanton. Participants must be at least 16 years of age and those under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

The CERT training is an opportunity for community members to learn about basic disaster preparedness and beyond. Through classroom and hands-on instruction, participants will learn about disaster preparedness and basic response related to fire safety, disaster medical operations and light search and rescue. The seven-session program also covers disaster psychology, terrorism and the mission of the CERT organization. It culminates in a LPFD and CERT drill, putting what participants have learned into practice.

Pre-registration is required and space is limited. To register and get further details, please call (925) 454-2361 or email CERT@LPfire.org.
