Hello Kris,

“I feel incredibly lucky to have you as my Graduation Coach. It's truly wonderful to have someone like you to talk to, who supports me in my studies but also in my everyday life. Having someone who understands how school is and someone I can vent to is very reassuring and I always look forward to when we meet again.”

~ YPIE Scholar 2030

“Thank you for helping me on my personal essay. Your empathetic and kind attitude towards every meeting was the reason why I am able to open up to you and the essay. I was able to discover myself through the meetings and I enjoyed each meeting so much that somehow my essay wasn’t the priority. Thank you so much!” ~ YPIE Fellow 2028

Messages like the ones above were shared with many of our Essay and Graduation Coaches recently as we celebrated National Mentoring Month. One of the best parts of my job is when I witness the transformative and tangible impact that our volunteers have on YPIE students. Thank you for all the ways, large and small, you show up for our students!

I'm excited to welcome 11 new Graduation Coaches to our community! Along with 7 returning coaches, they matched with Scholars this month and will officially start their mentoring journey at the Matching Ceremony on February 7th!

Your feedback matters! If you volunteered as an Essay Coach last spring, summer, or fall, please attend one of the Essay Coach Feedback Sessions (remote and in person options) so we can make adjustments to our program before launching for 2024.

Our semi-annual (remote) School Team Meetings bring together our volunteers with YPIE Readiness Managers and College Advisors. If you have not yet met your Scholar’s YPIE team, please try to attend!

Please see below for more information about these events and other volunteer news.

Thank you!
