Happy Conservation District Week!

April 28-May 4, 2024, is “Conservation District Week” in Pennsylvania. During this week, district offices will hold conference calls and meetings with legislators. Resources such as letters, a press release, and social media images are available from PACD to promote Conservation District Week.

Lycoming County Conservation District Holds Legislative Breakfast

Lycoming County Conservation District held a Legislative Breakfast in Williamsport on April 24, 2024.

 

The district’s state Senator attended, along with two House members, all three Commissioners, and an aide from their congressman. District Manager Matt Long gave a presentation. PACD Executive Director Brenda Shambaugh also attended the event and gave a presentation.

Northampton County Conservation District Honors Former Manager Chryss Buchman 

During the 2024 Northampton County Envirothon, a prize was presented in honor of Chryss Buchman, the district’s former manager, who passed away in 2016. The award was given to the highest-scoring team at the Current Issue Station. The 2024 winner is the team from Moravian Academy.

Jefferson County Conservation District Holds Farmer Workshop 

Jefferson County Conservation District held a Farmer Workshop on April 18, 2024, in Brookville, PA. Topics included soil and manure management, the importance of setbacks, and weed identification and control.

 

The PACD Nonpoint Source Pollution Prevention Educational Mini-grant Program funded the project.

Financial and other support for this project is provided by the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts, Inc. through a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection under Section 319 of the Clean Water Act, administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Susquehanna County Conservation District Celebrates Earth Day with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony 

The Susquehanna County Conservation District held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for their new ¼ mile interpretive trail around the district office to celebrate Earth Day. The trail includes an area for pollinators and a live-stake garden.
