Update on Current COVID Protocols
as of 15 May

Due to Rising COVID Rates in Hartford County:
  • Communion in one kind only (bread) will be offered at Communion. We will return to the Common Cup when COVID rates begin to fall.
  • Masks at indoor services are now strongly encouraged.

  • If you are visiting the Education Wing Monday through Friday during Trinity Academy school hours, we ask that you wear a mask. Trinity Academy will continue universal masking until the end of the school year in June.

  • We will continue to wear masks in the office in all common areas, and those who have private offices may request visitors to wear masks. Please be respectful of staff wishes.

As a reminder, there are various levels of comfort in our community with masking, handshakes, and hugging, so please be respectful of others whose decisions differ from your own.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and flexibility. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Rev. D. or a member of the Vestry.
Godly Play and Sunday School

Godly Play class continues this Sunday, May 15 at 9:45 am.
Our storyteller is fully COVID vaccinated and will wear a mask.
It is mask optional for all others in our class IF they are COVID vaccinated.
You may bring your children to join Godly Play by going up the stairs at the Farmington Avenue entrance and following the open doors on the 2nd floor. The children will quietly rejoin the service during the Peace.

Sunday School for all ages will gather after the 10 am service upstairs in the Education Wing.
Thursday Noon Services Resume In-Person

All Thursday Noonday services will be in person in the church.

The 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month will be Holy Eucharist and the 2nd, 4th and 5th Thursdays will be Noonday Prayer.

The services will not be available on-line. All are welcome to attend. Because the school is in session, please access the church through the Sigourney Street entrance.
Mark your calendars for the Bishop Nominees' Meet and Greet

The meet and greet for the North Central Region will be on
Thursday May 12th" 6:30-8:30pm at Christ Church Cathedral.

Due to a COVID exposure, the Meet & Greets with the Nominees for our XVI Bishop Diocesan have been moved online only via Zoom. Registration is still required to join the Zoom meeting and space is limited. Registration is available for the upcoming Zoom Meet & Greets via the Bishop Search & Transition website.

The meetings will also be live streamed on the ECCT YouTube channel. The recordings will be available after each livestream is over.

We sincerely regret this last-minute change. Please hold all our nominees in prayer as they adjust to this transition.

Heads Up! Hartford Summer Camp
Trinity's young people in grades 8-12 are invited to attend Heads Up! Hartford, a week-long summer camp uniting urban and suburban youth to improve our communities and develop as leaders. The camp will take place from June 22-29 at the Ethel Walker School in Simsbury. Each day, campers participate in community service, worship, fellowship and recreational activities.
The deadline to apply for HUH is June 5th, so now's the time to act! Registration can be done online or by mail; forms are available at headsuphartford.org or by contacting Linda MacGougan, Trinity's liaison, by May 15. macgougans@gmail.com; 860-561-1588 (home); 860-878-0334 (cell)

Families are asked to contribute $75 toward the cost of attending, but Trinity funds the rest. Trinity's youth have been to this camp over many years, as campers and as counselors, and have found it to be a valuable and fun experience.
FYI - Trinity Academy Block Party

Trinity Academy will be hosting a block party to provide their students with resources over the summer break to connect them to Community Organizations. If you are planning to visit the church and/or office at that time, the parking lot will be in use on Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

Connecticut Foodshare
Walk Against Hunger
May 21, 2022

Trinity has been a long-time supporter of Foodshare, and one of Foodshare's “partners,” Loaves and Fishes. Registration is now open for the Connecticut Foodshare Walk Against Hunger.

The Walk will take place on Saturday, May 21 in-person at Dunkin' Donuts Park — home of the Hartford Yard Goats!

The Walk is a fun-filled event with live entertainment and giveaways, hosted by local media personalities Renee DiNino and Scot Haney. Join us as we continue to bring awareness to the issue of food insecurity in Connecticut. The Walk not only benefits the work of Connecticut Foodshare, it also benefits our amazing partner programs throughout the state. These partners help us serve the estimated 1 in 8 residents and 1 in 7 children who struggle with hunger.

Register as individual, join a team or create your own! It’s easy! Your fundraising efforts will help Connecticut Foodshare as we work towards our vision of a thriving community, free of hunger!
Questions? Send an email to walk@ctfoodshare.org.
Cystic Fibrosis Walk Returns to In-Person
May 21, 2022

Hello all! As we attempt to return to gathering events, Kate and Drew Smith’s Cystic Fibrosis walk will be done in person at Wickham Park, Manchester, on Saturday, May 21st, 10 am. Outdoors is quite safe and we hope to have you join us. Team Strolling for Sarah does their annual walk, about 3 miles or one hour, to support the Great Strides program which raises research dollars for this genetic lung disease. Granddaughter Sarah, now 12, has started taking the new drug Trikafta which treats some of the causes for her illness and not just the symptoms.

If you cannot walk we hope you will support us at our website or mail us at : 106 Vista Way Bloomfield, CT 06002.    Visit our website : http://fightcf.cff.org/goto/KateSmith  for more information. Any questions? My email is: Kate48smith@comcast.net  or call 860-519-1591.

Thanks so much, Kate and Drew Smith

“A Peek Behind The Curtain”
SAVE THE DATE ---- May 22, 2022

They don’t work behind a black curtain, but the work that Jacob Troiano and Casey Rousseau do on Sunday mornings to live-stream our services on YouTube may seem like magic. Jacob and Casey assure us that there’s no magic involved, and it’s much simpler than we imagine.
Join Jacob on May 22 as he leads us through a “Show and Tell” of the live-streaming process. He will show us what is really involved in sending our worship services out beyond our walls. This forum will be offered in-person only following the 10 o’clock service, and will begin at 11:30 in the sanctuary.
Racial Awareness, Anti-Racism/Anti-Bias Training

ECCT is partnering with the Kaleidoscope Institute to offer an anti-racism course taking place on June 4,5,11, and 12. Attendance is required at all four sessions. There is no cost to attend but there is limited space.

To register (before May 28th) go to trinityhartford.org/antiracismtraining
Companions of the Holy Cross
Summer Retreat Center Now Open

The retreat center for the Companions of the Holy Cross is now open. Adelynrood has been closed for past 2 years because of Covid 19. This year, with Covid directives, it will be open again. Summer programs are open to both women and men and are a great means of relaxation or spiritual renewal. Visit the website
https://www.adelynrood.org to see listed offerings. The Companion website is www.SCHCCompanions.org

Special Prayer Request

A member of our parish, Jacqui Lucier has advanced kidney disease and is in need of a transplant.

As we pray for Jacqui, we also ask that you prayerfully consider being screened as a potential kidney donor. For more information about living organ donation and to sign up to be screened, please visit nkr.org/SBB483. Please encourage your friends and family to consider donor screening.

To hear Jacqui talk about her illness and need for a transplant, watch this clip that has aired on local news.
Recording of April 3 ACF Forum
now available for viewing

The April 3 Zoom forum about organ transplants was recorded and is now available for you to view, following this link: Trinityhartford.org/acforgandonation. The forum was informative, and included personal stories from organ donors and transplant recipients. A speaker from New England Donate Life, himself the recipient of a heart transplant, provided facts that dispelled some common myths about organ transplants. The forum explained the matching and transplant process in some detail.

In a quick moment, the topic of organ transplants has gone from an abstract idea to a deeply personal one for us at Trinity, as we have been asked to pray for our beloved Jacqui Lucier, who needs a kidney. We have also been asked to consider being screened as a potential donor. If you weren’t able to attend the forum, please take some time to watch the zoom recording.
