An eNewsletter from the Community College System of NH
Join the Community College System of New Hampshire online Friday, Feb. 26, 9:00 am - 4:30 pm for a day of scholarly exploration as we delve into COVID-19 and its effects on our world as CCSNH student scholars present results from their research on a wide variety of COVID-related topics.

Join us for as much (or as little) of the program as your schedule allows.

CCSNH is grateful to the Mellon Foundation (through the NH Humanities Collaborative) and the National Institutes of Health (through the NH-INBRE program) for helping us support the work of our student scholars and faculty mentors.

NHTI Dental Program supports area high school
The schools surrounding the Merrimack Valley region – Merrimack Valley Middle School (MVMS), Merrimack Valley High School (MVHS) and the Merrimack Valley Learning Center – include many children who lack dental care because their parents’ income is too high to qualify for Medicaid and too low to afford dental insurance. Only 53% of these adolescents (12-17 years old) had seen a dentist within the last 12 months, and 64% had untreated or active cavities, which is three times higher than the national average.

NHTI-Concord’s Community College stepped in to help.
Great Bay students benefit from the reciprocal nature of community engagement
Help is a two-way street during the pandemic. At Great Bay Community College, that means meeting the needs of students who might be at risk of going hungry, falling into isolation, or struggling to maintain safe and healthy personal habits. It also means students from the college are meeting needs in the community through a range of volunteer activities.
Lakes Region Community College student was up to challenges of 2020
While 2020 may have been memorable for most people in ways that were less than positive, Nina Sanborn had much to celebrate. Her life and plate were filled with marrying her high school sweetheart, having a baby, and earning a college degree in 2020. Even an emergency gallstone surgery did not keep her down as she continued her busy schedule and jumped right back into college in January 2021 to work on her bachelor’s degree with a two-month-old in tow.
