WILMAPCO's Draft FY 2025 Unified Planning Work Program available for review and comment through May 13, 2024.

WILMAPCO's Draft FY 2025 Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) was released for public review and comment from April 4 through May 13, 2024. Every year, with input from its member agencies, WILMAPCO develops its work program and budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The 3.7 million-dollar work program includes a summary of administrative, technical, and transportation planning tasks to be performed by the agency. You are invited to review and provide written comments on the Draft UPWP until Friday, May 13, 2024. The document will be available during the public comment period online at www.wilmapco.org/upwp.

Join us for an upcoming Public Workshop to discuss transportation and land use in the Churchman's Crossing Area. 

You are invited to attend the Churchman's Crossing Area Public Workshop on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM. at the New Castle County Gilliam Building, 77 Reads Way, New Castle, DE, 19720. 


The Churchman’s Crossing Plan Update was adopted by WILMAPCO’s Council on January 13, 2022, and includes recommendations for transportation improvements, land use, and transportation demand management strategies for the area. Since adoption, the Churchman’s Crossing Monitoring Committee (CCMC) was formed in 2022 with the purpose to help guide and fulfill the recommendations of the Plan.


At the workshop, attendees can learn about the latest project updates along with new bicycle and pedestrian priorities in the plan area.

You are invited to the Newport Transportation Plan Monitoring Study Public Workshop

The Newport Transportation Plan Monitoring Study will be holding an in-person public workshop on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, from 6-8 PM at the Old Town Hall in Newport, DE, 15 N. Augustine Street, Newport DE, 19804.

 

The project team will make a presentation with updates on local projects, like the Newport Train Station, and we will have spotlight reports on the Newport Riverfront Trail and the Newport to Newark Pathway System.

May is National Bike Month, celebrated in communities from coast to coast to showcase the many benefits of bicycling — and encourage more folks to giving biking a try. New Maryland EV Ownership and Charging Survey

The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) is seeking community input to identify the challenges and opportunities associated with electric vehicle (EV) ownership and the installation of EV charging infrastructure in Maryland. Information gathered from the Maryland EV and Infrastructure Planning Survey will help MDOT better understand how to best use federal and state funding to electrify Maryland’s transportation sector and meet state greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goals. The survey will be open until May 15, 2024.

DelDOT receives $15 million federal grant to help fight effects of climate change along Route 9

As reported by Delaware Public Media, "A federal grant will be used to combat effects of climate change in Townsend. The U.S. Department of Transportation awards DelDOT a $15 million Promoting Resilient Operations for Transformative, Efficient, and Cost-Saving Transportation (PROTECT) grant."

Delaware has seen a 16% decrease in traffic deaths

As reported by WHYY, "In 2022, Delaware matched a sobering milestone for traffic fatalities at 164, just shy of the 1988 record of 165 roadway deaths. Since that peak, Delaware has seen a 16% decrease, with 137 fatalities in 2023 compared to 164 in 2022."
