Spring Parent Teacher Conferences

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Please use this Google site to set an appointment with your child's teacher for a Spring conference by clicking on the teacher's name under their photo. The link goes directly to their individual Google calendar. Spring conferences will be held through early March.

The parent-teacher conference is a great way to connect with your child's teacher about academic performance, social development, and overall performance this school year. You can also use this site to set up a conference with a Unified Arts teacher. Please keep in mind that they see over 500 children and have approximately 25 spaces for meeting. If your child works with an intervention teacher, they will reach out separately regarding their conference times during this same window.

Thank you for working so closely with us to ensure a successful year for your child.

Don't delay, make your appointment now!

Legislation Update

In 2021, the Ohio Legislature passed legislation concerning the screening of and intervention for children displaying the characteristics and tendencies of dyslexia. It required Ohio school districts to do a number of things beginning during the 2023-2024 school year including professional learning for teachers and screening some students for the characteristics of dyslexia. Many of these things were already in place in Indian Hill School District. In the coming weeks, we will be sharing additional information regarding this law and Indian Hill’s plan to ensure that all students have a solid literacy foundation.

What is Dyslexia?

Dyslexia is defined as “a specific learning disorder that is neurological in origin and that is characterized by unexpected difficulties with accurate or fluent word recognition and by poor spelling and decoding abilities not consistent with the person’s intelligence, motivation, and sensory capabilities, which typically result from a deficit in the phonological component of language." Research shows that the use of early and intensive phonemic awareness training, explicit and systematic instruction in phonics and the opportunity to read connected text is effective in improving reading outcomes for students struggling to read in kindergarten through third grade. Parents can support their child’s early reading journey in a number of ways. Click here to learn more.

Reminder - Dress for the Weather

Parents: Just a reminder with the weather conditions, that your student will need to dress appropriately for the temperatures for the day. We have a few coats on hand and only a few pairs of gloves. We do not have any hats for cold weather. Also, if your child does not have a change of clothes that are for the "seasonal weather" - please send them in and they can keep it in their locker/cubby area.

My School Bucks

My School Bucks is an online payment program where you can load money on to your child's lunch account and pay school fees. Our team is working feverishly to update all information for 23/24 fee collection.

We will let you know when that feature is ready to accept payments. In the meantime, you can still load money on to your child's lunch account. Never used My School Bucks before? Need a refresher? Click the link below.

District Calendar

We also have a District Calendar which is sent to your homes that includes import events at the school.  There are two main online Calendars for our district - our Board Approved Calendar and our regularly updated District Master Calendar.

The most important way to receive timely PS information is to read the PS BeBrave Newsletter each week. All parents and guardians are automatically subscribed to BeBrave. If you are not a parent/guardian and are interested in subscribing to BeBrave CLICK HERE to sign up!
