Partners In Buying

Recently LendingHome conducted a survey in order to ascertain the most prominent disagreements couples/partners have when purchasing a home together. No doubt, homebuying is part financial and part emotional. When choosing, buying, and settling into a shared home, differences will usually come to the forefront and can be quite stressful.
The survey found that couples/partners will most likely disagree on these four matters:
• The price: 53%
• The location: 29%
• The size or style of the home: 18%
• The condition: 29% wanted a new home; their partner wanted a fixer-upper
“Choosing, buying and settling into a shared home is a significant step for any couple,” says Michael Bourque, LendingHome’s CEO. “If you and your partner are progressing toward this milestone, it’s important to take some time to consider more than just your aesthetic preferences and favorite neighborhoods. Your credit scores and histories will also play a role in your home buying journey.”
Homebuying is one of the most significant steps for anybody at any time. If you are looking to buy with somebody (spouse, partner, friend, family), talk about your preferences before time. Become aware of your differences, and communicate openly about your preferences. It is a process that will help alleviate some of the stress.
As always, we are here to assist in any way we can. Our familiarity with the entire process and with the local market will make the process smooth and stress-free.
