"Accessible” means a person with a disability is afforded the opportunity to acquire the same information, engage in the same interactions, and enjoy the same services as a person without a disability in an equally effective and equally integrated manner, with substantially equivalent ease of use. Common barriers for persons with disabilities include: Attitude, Communication, Physical Limitations, Public Policy Deficiencies, Programmatic Issues, Social Status, Transportation - and often, more than one barrier occurs at a time.

A Primer for Multi-Sector Health Partnerships in Rural Areas and Small Cities
This primer aims to assist multi-sector approaches that increase community-centered investments to support opportunities for all individuals to live long, healthy lives, regardless of their income, education, race or ethnic background. This tool provides guidance between the community development, finance, public health, and healthcare sectors to support partnerships in rural areas and small cities.

Designing Healthier Communities, a Creative Placemaking Communities Program

The Designing Healthier Communities program develops diverse community-based teams to become stewards for placemaking oriented to well-being. Each team includes, at a minimum, a working creative sector professional; a health professional; and an influential representative from the local government. Through this initiative, up to five community teams will receive coaching and tools to become stewards for placemaking that promotes well-being in New Jersey. Community teams throughout the state are encouraged to apply. Of particular note, one team from either Monmouth or Ocean County will receive support from the Grunin Foundation to participate and bring learnings to the Central Jersey Shore.


COVID-19 Disability Community Needs Survey
The UAB Institute for Human Rights, National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability and Lakeshore Foundation are looking to find out how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted people with disabilities and chronic conditions. Please complete the survey below and help identify the major challenges for people with disabilities and unmet needs in the community.

The Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) School Health NJ Project
The Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) School Health NJ Project, administered by the NJ Department of Health (NJDOH), has more than 10 years of experience promoting healthy schools and utilizes a collaborative approach to learning and health. Through the WSCC School Health NJ project, the NJDOH will provide schools with up to $15,000 in funding over the course of three years, with an optional fourth year, to strengthen their school districts' capacity to support and sustain healthy schools. The NJDOH is recruiting all schools but needs to prioritize those with at least 40% of students eligible for free/reduced lunch. New Jersey Council for Humanities COVID-19 Response Grants

New Jersey Council for Humanities is offering two different types of grants for operational and programmatic support for nonprofit organizations that provide humanities programming to public audiences to prepare for, respond to, and recover from the pandemic.

  • General Operating Support grants ($5,000-$20,000) are available to nonprofit organizations that have a mission rooted in the public humanities, and organizational budget greater than $50,000, and at least one full-time staff person (or one FTE).
  • Program Support grants ($2,000-$20,000) are available for nonprofit and governmental organizations who undertake humanities programs, whether or not their organization's primary mission is based in the humanities.

Policy Campaign Grant

Voices for Healthy Kids works around the country to improve or create equitable policies that will make the places kids live, learn and play healthier. The call for proposals for the Policy Campaign Opportunity is designed to support advocacy campaigns supporting Voices for Healthy Kids policy priorities with a focus on health equity.

Community Grant for Bicycle Infrastructure

PeopleForBikes is seeking applicants for its Community Grant Program that supports bicycle infrastructure projects and initiatives that make it easier and safer for people of all ages and abilities to ride. Examples of past projects include:
  • Paths, lanes, trails, and bridges.
  • End-of-trip facilities such as bike racks, bike parking, bike repair stations and bike storage.
  • Programs that transform city streets, such as Ciclovías or Open Streets Days.
