When It Rains, It Pours!

Well, the good news is that we are getting plenty of rain! We are so happy to see how well everyone prepared for the storms last week. At the time, we didn't realize that they would just keep coming. We encourage you to stay safe and be prepared as the rain keeps coming down this weekend and into early next week.

We can hardly believe the Crab Feed is next weekend! We still have some tickets available but they are selling fast, so don't delay, get yours today!

Help us spread the word about our open Administrative Clerk position. Take a look at the position and learn more about this wonderful opportunity to work for TCSD.

Wishing you a safe and happy New Year!
On Sunday morning, January 8th, sometime before 8:00am, persons unknown broke into the TCSD corporation yard and building. The perpetrators stole over $10,000 worth of equipment (e.g,. drills, chainsaws, two-way radios). TCSD also experienced approximately $5,000 in damages to TCSD property. The pictures show two people and a vehicle loaded with, it appears, TCSD property leaving the parking lot around the time of the break- in. The vehicle appears to be 2003-2007 white Chevy Silverado ½ ton extended cab with roof rack and drivers side damage to front bumper and possibly turn signal.
If you have any information regarding the break-in/vehicle or recall seeing this vehicle Sunday morning, please contact the Marin Sheriff’s office at (415) 479-2311 and/or Deputy Sean Hickey at shickey@marinsheriff.org. The report or incident number is 5023-0050.

Thank you for your help.

Winter Storm Update
Well, we made it through the big storm. Our community did an excellent job preparing for potential flooding. We received our fourth delivery of sand from the County this week and our parking lot has been full of residents actively working to prepare for the storms. More rainfall is expected this weekend and with the ground at a high saturation level, flooding is still possible.

Please expect these hazards/inconveniences and take steps NOW to prepare.

  • Stay home and off the roads as much as possible. Those who live in flood prone areas and leave home may face the possibility of being unable to return home if roadways close due to flooding.
  • If you must drive, use extra caution, allow extra time, slow down and do not drive through flooded areas.
  • Those living in flood-prone areas should be prepared for possible flooding impacts.
  • Secure outdoor objects that could be picked up by wind.

Sandbags
We advise that you do your best to sandbag vulnerable areas at your home to limit potential damage. We have sand available in the Community Center parking lot at 203 Marin Avenue. Bring your own shovel to fill bags. Limited bags available to fill; please consider bringing your own.

TCSD Board Meeting Highlights

At its January 11th regular meeting, the Board received a status update from Nute Engineering regarding the Bell Lane Pump Station and Force Main replacement projects. Staff and Nute Engineering also reported on past capital improvement projects. Specifically, from 2020 thru 2022, the District replaced approximately 24,100 linear feet or 4.6 miles of sewer main pipeline in three (3) phases. The total project cost was approximately $4.6M. The next sewer main replacement project (Phase D) is focused on Eastwood Way and Glenwood Ave, but the District may expand the scope to include other areas. The funding, phasing, and scheduling for the Bell Lane Pump Station and Force Main replacement projects as well as Phase D sewer main replacement project will be a topic of discussion at a future Board meeting.

Christmas Tree Recycling
If you have a live tree and are looking to have it composted:

Tam Valley CSD Tree Collection
  • We had hoped to have all the trees picked up this week but the weather has made pick ups a little harder. Please keep your tree out, ready for pick up. The Contractor plans to complete tree pick-ups on Saturday and next Tuesday, as needed.
  • Trees can also be cut up into pieces up to 2 ft long and 4 inches in diameter and placed in the green bin. Lid must be able to close.
