Mission Moment

Girl Scouts prioritize mental and physical health and Troop 1226 has focused many of their activities on this important theme. In addition to earning their Showing up for You and Me badges, they showed up in their community by participating in the Hearts for Hospice program in February, making Valentine's Day cards for local hospice patients.

Spotlight On...

Elizabeth Helton

Program Specialist

Elizabeth grew up in Penobscot county, on her family's farm raising 4-H dairy goats that she showed at fairs. Girl Scouts is in her family: her grandmother attended Camp Natarswi in the 1940s, her mom was a Troop Leader & Service Unit Manager, her dad was a Cookie Unit Manager, and her sister was a Silver Award winner.

When Elizabeth was a Junior, her troop was working on their theatre badge and she was cast in the play, igniting her passion for theatre & leading her to earn a BFA in Stage Management. She spent 10 years working her way up from Intern to Actors Equity Association Stage Manager, alongside world-renowned professionals at the Kennedy Center and Hartford Stage.

When she moved back to Maine, working with Girl Scouts was an easy choice: "I enjoy working with the older girls: assisting them with earning their Highest Awards, facilitating the Teen Advisory Group, planning Transforming Leadership. Their thoughts and ideas inform the work I do with GSME."
