Beach Creek Estuary
Engineering Award Winning Design
The Town is pleased to announce that the work completed on the Beach Creek Estuary is now an award-winning design.

The engineering company SNC-Lavalin, is being recognized for their work on the Beach Creek Estuary by the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies BC. SNC-Lavalin won the prestigious Award for Engineering Excellence (Natural Resource and Habitat category) that celebrates excellence and innovation in consulting engineering.

Following on from the work they did in 2016 for the Town of Qualicum Beach Waterfront Masterplan Report, SNC-Lavalin was commissioned by the Town to undertake conceptual and detailed design of the Beach Creek Estuary enhancement, in close collaboration with Koers & Associates Engineering Ltd., responsible for project management and all upland works.

This project re-established an artificial estuary for Beach Creek, which restored a more natural habitat for spawning salmon that have returned to Beach Creek, and has served as a first step in the implementation of Green Shores which will further support the Town’s shoreline ecosystems.

The Town is proud to have partnered with SNL-Lavalin, and would like to thank them for their outstanding contribution to Beach Creek, and congratulate them on their 2021 Award of Merit for Engineering Excellence (Natural Resource and Habitat category).
