Dear Veterans and Veteran Advocates, 

This month, we celebrate Veterans Day! Most Veterans know that the root of this important national observation can be traced to the end of WWI. It was officially “reflagged” as “Veterans Day” by President Eisenhower in 1954 so that we could pay homage to every veteran in acknowledgement of their contributions to our Nation.

Northern Nevada State Veterans Home Receives  
Highest CMS 5-Star Quality Rating 
The Northern Nevada State Veterans Home (NNSVH) recently received a 5-Star quality rating, the highest possible, from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). According to CMS, only the top 10 percent of skilled care nursing facilities in each state receive a 5-Star quality rating.  Read More
Nevada Department of Veterans Services Receives Grant Award To Support Adaptive Sports Programs
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) approved a grant request by the Nevada Department of Veterans Services (NDVS) for $31,495 to support adaptive sports programs in the Cities of Reno and Las Vegas. Read More

 Southern Nevada Veterans Take Part in Honor Flight

America’s military veterans were flown on a no-cost (to them) sojourn to Washington, D.C. to view the monuments that commemorate the military history of the United States.
SNVMC VA Grant
Boulder City’s Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery (SNVMC) has been offered a “grant opportunity” by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for up to $5,780,000 to expand the cemetery by seven acres.
Benefits Updates For Post 9/11 Veterans 
For many years, Post 9/11 veterans who served in Iraq/Afghanistan and at bases in the region supporting operations there, raised concerns about the potential for exposure to toxic materials from the burn pits located on their bases. Read More
