May is dedicated to Our Lady

Remember, O most loving Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, we turn to you, O Virgins of virgins, our Mother. To you we come, before you we stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, do not despise our petitions, but in your mercy hear us and answer us. Amen.

Our Lady of Mercy and St. Joseph pray for us.

Cougar Kudos

The CCHS Cougars Mountain Bike Team had another strong performance competing against 45 teams from across North Carolina on the last Sunday of Spring Break. With afternoon temps rising into the 80's, the race course was hot and fast in Climax, NC at Quaker Lake Camp for the 3rd race of the season.

Due in part to travel conflicts during the holiday week, we fielded a smaller team but still had a strong showing with another great effort by Freshman, Zack Sweeny, and with the following riders having their best finishes so far this season: Declan Bridges (JV2), Hunter McNamara (JV2) and Michael Pray (Varsity). Matt “Marty” Strutz (Varsity) had a tremendous sprint to the line beating his challenger by just 1 second in what was a grueling 63 minute race. Liam Thomas (JV2) started from the back of the pack in 23rd position due to an injury impacting his last race and over the next 3 laps (12 miles) pushed his way up to a 10th place finish. And for the second time in our four season MTB Team history, Charlotte Catholic had another podium finish with Walker Davis fighting his way from 41st place at the start to finish 5th overall in the Freshman wave despite getting caught up in a massive first turn crash and pile up of riders where the course bottlenecked into the woods.

Our next race is at Dark Mountain in North Wilkesboro on May15th, and the Cougars are ready to pounce and light up the course on what are some of the fastest trails in the NC NICA MTB season due to major elevation changes that Dark Mountain throws down.
