From our Rector

Dear Friends in Christ,

Welcome back from Spring Break! I may be making a controversial statement, however, I am grateful that Spring Break did not fall during Holy Week this year. Of course, I understand the necessity of providing these holy days off for students and teachers and I also ask us all to support the incorporation of other faith traditions’ holy days into the larger calendar. While I now see the importance, there was something different about going to church for Spring Break instead of the beach.

We have an opportunity this year to incorporate this Holy Week into our daily lives. In the midst of a “regular” week, how might we separate this out and walk with Christ, remembering this sacred time? It is easy to go from waving palms to Eastertide. This year, how might we take a minute to explore the Eucharistic celebration and washing of feet on Maundy Thursday? How might we take the time away to observe Good Friday? The Great Vigil, an ancient service, provides a time to contemplate the moment of Resurrection in this baptismal liturgy.

I look forward to seeing you this Palm Sunday and through Holy Week. May this week be a blessing in your life, the life of our church, and in the larger universal church.

Faithfully yours,
The Rev. William L. Packard

Once we have all gathered, we will start the service outside at 10:00 a.m. and process into the Nave together.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter Egg Hunt is back! This year we will be hunting for eggs on Easter morning at 10:30 a.m. behind the church. We will split up the kids into 3 groups: 5 yrs old and below on the playground, 6-8 yrs old in the outdoor classroom, and 9-11 years old near the fire pit near the back parking lot.

Kids 12 and older are invited to help us hide the eggs that morning (possibly the afternoon before if the weather cooperates. We will confirm that closer to the event).

For this event to work, we need donations of candy (all individually wrapped pieces; no nuts or peanut butter please) and/or stickers/small trinkets that can fit inside plastic eggs. Use the link below to sign up for donations.

Donations are due by Sunday, April 10th. The collection box is available right outside the church office. If you would like to help stuff eggs during Holy Week, please sign up at the link below.

Nursery volunteers are needed for the Easter services.

Sign-up now to help in our Pre-K and Nursery classes held during the Sunday, 10:00 a.m. services. To be a volunteer you must be at least 14 years old and fully vaccinated.

Our childcare depends on help from parents, teens, and other volunteers. While we have paid staff who run the classes, in order to follow Safe Church guidelines, there must be 2 adults (or adult and teen) in each classroom. And remember, students can earn service hours by helping out (at least 1.5 hours a week)!

Foyer Groups

The Fellowship committee is excited to start planning for foyer groups to restart. Traditionally we have had small groups meet to have a meal or an activity together. We’ve met in each other’s homes, restaurants, parks, and even theaters. It’s up to the group to decide how often, when, and where to get together.

You can sign-up in the Parish Hall after the Sunday 10:00 a.m. services or by emailing Debbie Williams or Sharon Gould, Coordinators. If you think you’d be interested or would like to hear more please see Debbie or Sharon after church in the Parish Hall.

Please sign up by mid-April. We expect to notify groups in early May. We are excited to bring this fellowship back!
