Weekly Newsletter 11/17/2023

Dear Parents,

I am again at a loss for words to express my gratitude for your kindness. Above, you will find photos of the Family Turkey Projects. They came out so fantastic and were picked up today. They will be delivered to the Chapman Partnership Homeless Shelter in Homestead to decorate their cafeteria. Those families will feel your love and know that despite their homelessness, people cared enough to show their love this Thanksgiving Season.

Also, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who was able to donate Publix gift cards. As of the writing of this letter, we are close to giving 9 families $100 each to shop for Thanksgiving. The envelopes will be given out on Monday, so we will accept gift cards until Monday morning. Thank you for sharing your heart with another family and teaching your child empathy toward others.

Another HUGE thank you to everyone who contributed something to make the class collaborative feasts so successful. Photos will be in your feed and on our Facebook and Instagram now through Thanksgiving for you to enjoy. Just so you know, all fruits were combined to make a HUGE Friendship Fruit Salad and there was enough for lunch, snack, and even some unopened fruit for Monday. Also, so as to not sugar up the kids before nap, children were given a few bites of pie with lunch, and the remainder of the pie and fruit was served at snack time.

There were a few kids who brought in Jello since everything else on the list was taken. Those Jello cups were held and will be served another day to those classes. Thank you for understanding...(We did alert the kids who brought the Jello in....)

REMINDER: Next week, we are open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Please remember that for those kids in VPK or our K-2 classes, ATTENDANCE IS OPTIONAL ON THOSE DAYS. They will be non-instructional, and attendance will not be taken. If possible, if your child is NOT attending next week, please reply to this message and let us know so that we can plan our meal service and minimize leftover food.

As next week will be short, there will be no weekly letter.

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and know how grateful we are to have your family at our school. I am personally so filled with gratitude year-round for my stellar staff. Thanksgiving is just one more opportunity to let them know just how thankful I am!
