Dear St. Louis Families,
With great joy, we enter May, the month of our Blessed Mother Mary. Today, our 8th grade students participated in Mass this morning where we crowned Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth. May Crowning is a traditional Catholic devotion that honors Mary in her premier title, that of the mother of Jesus. Honoring her and adorning her with a crown of flowers is the manifestation of the fifth mystery of our rosary. It is with great excitement that our 8th graders shared in a little bit of the normalcy that comes not only with spring but also with their role as leaders of our school.
Our 2nd graders continued their preparation for First Communion. In just a little over a week, our they will receive Jesus for the first time in the Eucharist. Let us keep our 2nd grade students and their families in prayer as they prepare for this most holy sacrament.
Scantron standardized testing for grades 3 through 7 began this week and will continue over the next three weeks; and HMH Math and Reading testing for grades K through 2 is underway and will continue over the next two weeks. Results from all testing will go home with report cards at the end of the school year.
This Sunday is Mother’s Day, and whether your mother is with you here on Earth or guiding you from Heaven, she is a blessing and a love in your life. I wish all of our St. Louis mothers a beautiful weekend, and I ask the Blessed Mother to be with you as you are celebrated by your families.
Blessings to all of you,
Anne M. Dyke

Rising 6th Graders: Virginia requires all rising 6th graders to get their first dose of the HPV vaccine by the start of the school year. Please review the letter from the state and Bishop Burbidge. If your child receives the HPV vaccine, please submit documentation to the Main Office by August 16th. You do not need to provide a religious waiver if your child is not getting the HPV vaccine.
COVID Vaccines
Are you considering the COVID vaccine for your 12-15 y/o? Do you hope to get your younger children vaccinated in the Fall? You must wait two weeks between the COVID vaccines and other vaccinations. Plan their doctor’s apt accordingly.Ex: If you want your middle schooler to get the vaccine as soon as it’s approved, schedule their well visit and school vaccines for later this Summer (Pro Tip: Call the pediatrician now to get on the Summer schedule!).
If you want your lower school student to get the vaccine if it’s approved this fall, consider scheduling their well-visits earlier in the Summer.
Health Forms are due by August 16th and can be submitted any time. Please talk to your pediatrician to determine if the COVID vaccine is right for your child.
