Funding Opportunities
Food & Nutrition Security Survey Stipend
The Howard County Local Health Improvement Coalition (HCLHIC) invites organizations to apply for a stipend opportunity to assist with conducting the Howard County Food & Nutrition Security survey.

Health Disparities Grant
The Howard County Health Department (HCHD) is pleased to announce grant opportunities to reduce health disparities related to chronic disease and COVID-19 infections in Howard County. This funding was made possible from MDH, the CDC and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and allows HCHD to award two categories of grants. The first is for local organizations to identify and recruit community leaders to create a network of certified Community Health Workers (CHW). The second grant will be awarded to local organizations to provide ongoing support for this CHW network. 

Interested Organizations should visit www.howardcountymd.gov/health/health-disparities-grants for information about the application process. Application deadline is August 31st.
Tobacco Grant
The Howard County Health Department seeks to fund community-based organizations to reach populations identified as having a known health disparity related to tobacco/vape use, diabetes, and chronic disease; and to advance health equity efforts.

FREE Mental Health First Aid Class
Coalition members are asked to share the Howard County General Hospital's FREE Virtual Mental Health First Aid class on September 23 or November 10.

Community Health Advisor Training
University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center, Office of Community Outreach and Engagement is offering a FREE virtual training on September 17 at 11:00am - 2:45pm for lay persons in Central Maryland to become trained and certified Community Health Advisors. Those who complete the training can earn up to $200.

The purpose of the Community Health Advisor training is to educate Central Maryland residents about health, wellness, cancer prevention, and early detection.
