As a people rooted in arts and culture that embody diverse modes of creativity, we acknowledge the political and/or geographical areas that have historically sought to separate us for economic gain. In essence to be borderless is to reclaim our rightful place and ability to exist in solidarity with one another no matter the space or time. To be borderless is to no longer be divided between distance but reconnected with a reimagination of who we are and what value we bring to each other.

Launched in 2019, the Accra Art Week is an annual week-long celebration of art and design taking place in the city of Accra, Ghana. With a primary mission to galvanize global engagement with West Africa’s creative sector, AAW curates a city-wide, immersive event series, featuring exhibitions+pop-ups, talks, performances, screenings, workshops and tours (of select galleries, studios, and cultural spaces). It’s existence is testament to Accra’s as a leading art destination in Africa.
