Greetings!

Happy June! It is a wonderful day when I can greet you with some great news:
Sunday, June 6
Our councils have given the go ahead to return to in-person worship in our church buildings.

I, for one, have really appreciated how they’ve kept our health and welfare a top priority. Our joint councils have met twice a year in the spring and fall forever. However, since the pandemic started they have held monthly meetings via zoom. Again, I appreciate their dedication and concern for our health and welfare as a whole. That is the thing about this pandemic, it concerns all of us as a whole, but in different ways. Age and health risks seemed to be some of our bigger concerns. Well, it will be a wonderful day when we can worship, praise, and do justice for our Lord and Savior face to face again.

Psalm 84:1-2
How lovely are Your dwelling places,
O Lord of hosts!
My soul longed and even yearned for the courts of the Lord;
My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God.

The only and very important thing we have to remember, is that worship services won't be quite the same, at least for now. Some of the rules may even seem silly but, "let each of us look not only to his own interests, but also to the interest of others."
Philippians 2:4

For Starters:
Masks are required
  • We've learned to smile with our eyes
No singing
  • Clapping, snapping, tapping are allowed
  • *Update - Bayfield County has approved singing with masks.
 Social distancing
  • Space with grace
Windows open
  • Allows the Spirit to blow more freely
Coffee and Fellowship outside (BYO-Bring Your Own)
  • Never a bad thing to get outside the walls

I realize we are not totally free of this pandemic, but I want to thank all of you who were able and willing to continue worshipping this past year, as well as, staying active on our committees, and continuing our ministries. It is because of YOU that we are still HERE and I thank you for your perseverance.

My heart is heavy and concerned for those of you who have lost loved ones during this difficult time. We need to share in your grief and be available for and to you.

It is too soon and too overwhelming to list all of the blessings, support, and things learned. So, for now…

Peace and Love,
Mary

as we welcome Dee Sweet
"Father's Day All Year": The role of women is often described as the essential backbone of the family and rightfully so. But where do we place the father's role in these contemporary times? What are the expectations of men in modern family systems with subtle shifts in gender responsibilities? When we consider that women are the backbone of the American family, men most certainly are still the shoulders." - Dee

Are You an Older Adult? A Caregiver? Service Provider? Volunteer?
Every three years we formally request community input to help evaluate current services and plan future programs and services. We know good health and quality of life are important to living well. Through receiving input, we can better understand what support older adults need and how to advocate for and plan future programs and services.
It is no surprise that Bayfield County is aging. The number of people over age 60 is currently 39% and that is expected to grow to 51% by 2040. We have challenges ahead.
We are asking community members to fill out this online surveyInput is needed from a wide range of community members to ensure that services are meeting the needs of older people in the community and their caregivers.
Please respond by June 18th, 2021 and help spread the word!
Thank you!
