April 2021
Confirmations
St. John’s Episcopal Church, in Tallahassee, graciously celebrated nearly 70 youth and adults with two outdoor services of confirmation, reception and reaffirmation. The celebrations for many of the individuals were delayed a full year due to the pandemic, so weather couldn’t dampen the mood on this special day. We were blessed with covered walkways at Holy Comforter Episcopal School and the dedicated volunteers, clergy and staff members who helped St. John’s dodge the raindrops through two very special ceremonies. A trio of bishops laid hands upon the confirmands. Assisting the Rt. Rev. Samuel Johnson Howard was the Bishop Henderson - Bishop of Upper South Carolina and past Assisting Bishop in the Diocese, and the Rt. Rev. Jay Lambert, Former Bishop of the Diocese of Eau Claire.

The Order of the Daughters King® Annual Spring Assembly
The Order of the Daughters of the King® Florida Assembly

The Annual Spring Assembly was held at historic Trinity Episcopal Parish in St. Augustine on Saturday, April 17. Trinity, the oldest Protestant church in Florida, founded in 1821, is celebrating its bicentennial this year. The Daughters enjoyed the in-person gathering hosted by St. Monica Chapter. The Reverend Matt Marino, Rector of Trinity Parish was our celebrant with The Rev. Ken Herzog, Chaplain of St. Monica, preaching the sermon. Fr. Ken spoke about "Episcopal evangelism" and that now is our time to share our faith and the love of Jesus with others. Martha Abstein shared her gifts by singing "Give me Jesus" for the offertory and and leading us in "Because He Lives" during Communion. Organist Cliff Parrish played our hymns including the Hymn of the Order "Lift High the Cross".

The new officers are as follows:

President: Julie Dulaney, St. Andrew's, Jacksonville
First Vice President: Pamela Pierce, St. Philip's, Jacksonville
Second Vice President: Shauna Allen, St. Michael and All Angels, Tallahassee
Secretary: Pam Adkins, Church of Our Saviour, Jacksonville
Treasurer: Tricia Pulsifer, St. Andrew's, Jacksonville
Chaplain Deacon: Marsha Holmes, Christ Church, Ponte Vedra Beach
St. George's Festal Choral Eversong
St. George's Festal Choral Evensong took place on Sunday April 25th in the evening and was glorious. However, many of you who had hoped to watch and listen online missed this beautiful service due to a technical issue with YouTube. Click here for a partial recording, so you can enjoy this experience at your leisure.

Note: the recording was interrupted during the Nunc Dimittis and resumes during the Preces and Responses.
