On Thursday, October 26th, 2023, the ICAA welcomed AD100 designer Young Huh and fellow AD100 and Hall of Famer Alexa Hampton for a conversation about Young's design inspirations. Young discussed her thoughtful approach to architectural details and how she provides the groundwork for warm and welcoming interiors by finding harmony and dynamism through the application of classic and modern design principles.

The Annual Mark Hampton Lecture honors the legacy of renowned designer Mark Hampton and celebrates the highest caliber of interior design in the classical tradition.

The ICAA Rocky Mountain Chapter, in collaboration with the ICAA National Office, hosted a Regional Intensive from August 5th through 12th in Denver. This eight-day immersion in the ICAA’s core curriculum is designed for professionals and students with limited time who seek a methodical introduction to the language of classical architecture. Participants learned how to draw, identify, and compose with the classical elements to form an understanding of the basic tenets on which the classical tradition is founded, culminating in a studio project in which students use the classical canon in the design of a small building.

This video, produced by Cooper Productions for the ICAA Rocky Mountain Chapter, provides a look at the experience of the Intensive as shared by both participants and instructors. The Intensive was hosted at the historic Oxford Hotel, and included offsite measured drawing excursions to Denver Civic Center and Cheesman Park.

The next ICAA Intensive will take place in Newport, Rhode Island on October 19th through 26th. Learn more.
On Tuesday, October 11th, 2022, the ICAA welcomed designers Corey Damen Jenkins and Alexa Hampton for a fascinating conversation about Corey's design inspirations, the challenges of building a successful career, and some of his remarkable projects.

Incorporating a variety of sources from ancient Egypt to Napoléon I’s tented rooms, Corey took attendees on a trip through the ages to show how he incorporates historical precedent into his bold designs. Filled with anecdotes and lively conversation between two friends, this is a history lesson in interior design that will be as entertaining as it is informative.

In June 2023 the Southeast Chapter of the ICAA, in collaboration with the North Carolina Chapter, hosted the ICAA Southeast Bunny Mellon Garden Symposium - An Exploration of Southeastern Landscapes: Mountains to Prairies. Designers, students, and enthusiasts gathered for a three-day conference in Lake Toxaway, North Carolina, enjoying tours and lectures by preeminent experts in garden and landscape design.

The Symposium's third lecture was presented by Melissa Reavis, landscape architect and residential studio director at Hollander Design Landscape Architects. In her talk, Melissa encourages landscape designers to design healthy landscapes that benefit insects, plants, animals, and humans alike. Drawing on the firm's inspiring design portfolio of residential properties around the world, Reavis shows how biodiversity in residential garden settings can be designed within any aesthetic and enhance the overall experience of a landscape and its connection to architecture.

Presented as part of the Bunny Mellon Curricula at the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art. The ICAA is very grateful to the Gerard B. Lambert Foundation for its generous support of this program, along with the Bunny Mellon Curricula

During the fall of 2023, participants journeyed with the ICAA to the countryside of Yorkshire, England, as part of the travel program Great Houses, Estates & Gardens of Yorkshire, arranged by Classical Excursions. Tour participant and architect Steven Spandle recounts the visit to one of the destinations, Bramham Park, in this article, describing the fascinating history of the estate and the distinguishing design features of the house, the landscape, and the surrounding follies and temples.

Kate Hersch, another participant on the ICAA's travel program Great Houses, Estates & Gardens of Yorkshire, captures the full experience of traveling with the ICAA in this article, chronicling the stunning estates and gardens, the unforgettable private dinners, and the camaraderie that was shared among participants. Here, she highlights pleasures both rustic and refined, and celebrates the warm graciousness of the hosts who opened their doors to the tour's collection of architects, designers, and enthusiasts.
