Alumna Provides Keynote at 49ers' Event
Jennifer Daughenbaugh, above, with San Francisco 49ers Coach Kyle Shanahan, left, and General Manager John Lynch.
Baler 1989 alumna Jennifer Daughenbaugh presented the keynote speech for the 49ers Foundation Golden Getaway weekend event that hosted players, coaches, alumni, executives, sponsors and individual supporters at Carmel Valley to raise $2 million for “49er Territory” youth. Jennifer took the stage in front of 500 attendees at the gala to talk about how the 49ers PREP flag football program has made an impact in the lives of kids that live in under-served neighborhoods, and who are either involved in or at high risk for the juvenile justice system and/or gang activity. Jennifer was chosen as the keynote speaker because she has spent the last 16 years dedicated to teaching life skills to at-risk youth through the power of sport. The underpinning of her speech highlighted core values that are essential for the program’s success which are free access and inclusivity. In turn, via sport activities, the kids are learning essential life skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship, conflict-resolution, leadership, and problem solving.

Jennifer is a retired Santa Clara County Juvenile Probation Officer. In 2006, she founded the Pro-Com (Probation-Community) Athletic League which provides free year-round sports activities for at-risk youth in under-served communities. Since her retirement from the Probation Department in 2021, she has served as the Board President of “Empowering Our Community for Success” (EOCS), a local non-profit that focuses on prevention and intervention via life skills education, leadership development, and pro-social activities.

Trinity Mumm '20 Pursuing A Career in Nursing
Trinity Mumm, a 2020 Baler alumna, is a sophomore at Montana State University, where she is in her first semester of the nursing program on the Billings campus. She says, "I have really been enjoying my time in the nursing program and have been forming new friendships with my classmates and have just started clinicals in the local hospitals here in Billings. Aside from my nursing courses, I was a part of the programs, activities, and campus events board (a group similar to that of ASB at SBHS) for my first year and a half at MSU. Last semester, I was in charge of planning Homecoming in Bozeman on the main MSU campus and I was able to put a lot of the skills and lessons I learned while being a part of ASB at SBHS into place. I have four semesters remaining in the nursing program and am still deciding what specialty of nursing I would like to pursue, but I have always been interested in pediatrics or oncology."
