A note from Chapter President, Susan Stein Kregar, CAE, CNAP, Desert Lotus Group

Hello NAWIC Members and Friends,

You may be reading this as I am either headed to or already at the Pacific Southwest Region Forum in Irvine. I am honored to represent our chapter and eager to share what I learn with you. Plus, there is a beach nearby and that's a bonus in my book!

Thank you to our members, Laura Edwards and her daughter Casey Brown, Debra Keiser, Kimberly Rodriguez and Sandy Lipe for volunteering at the SAHBA Home Show. Over a three-day show, I was running around so much that I forgot to take photos! Sorry about that. Your help was greatly appreciated!

At our April 13th meeting we met a few of the next generation of women construction professionals as we awarded them for their exemplary work in the NEF CADD Competition (see below for photos). Under the guidance of Becky Johnson from Swaim Associates Ltd., these three young women were tasked with designing medical office space. This was Becky's first year chairing the competition and she did an outstanding job. Thank you, Becky! Well done!

Now that those events have wrapped up, mark your calendars for these events:

April 28 - May 1 -- Pacific Southwest Conference
May 11 -- Chapter Dinner Meeting at the DoubleTree Reid Park
June 8 -- Summer Social
August 13 -- NAWIC 19th Annual Shirley Dail Bowling Tournament
September 14 -- Chapter Meeting
November 2nd & 3rd-Construction Career Days
December 3 -- NAWIC Night at the Gaslight

The election for the 2022-23 board of directors will take place at the May 11th meeting. These ladies have stepped up to serve:

President: Sandy Lipe, Arcadia Landscape
Vice President: Tracy Miller, Restoration 1
Treasurer: Leah Swisher, Alliance of Construction Trades
Secretary: Meredith Alarcio-Caldon, Granite Construction

Directors
Yvette Pederson, SAHBA
Leah Mein, Tofel Dent Construction
Debra Keiser, Tofel Dent Construction
Vanessa Guzzo, RG & Sons Plumbing
Leslie King, Carlton Fields
Laura Edwards, Tepco
Becky Johnson, Swaim Associates, Ltd.
Immediate Past President: Susan Stein Kregar, Desert Lotus Group

There will be plenty of additional leadership opportunities on our committees, such as communications, education and more.

So, until we meet again, stay well! I am looking forward to seeing you May 11th.

Cheers,
Susan Stein Kregar
President 2021-2022
