2023-2024 Calendar

Calendars approved for 2024-2025 and 2025-2026

Following community input and school board approval, Northwest ISD’s instructional calendars for the next two academic years – 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 – are now set and will mirror the current district calendar.

Based on previous feedback, both calendars emulate the 2023-2024 calendar, with important dates consistent to the current calendar, changing simply based on how dates fall based on the change in year. In each calendar, the school year’s start date would remain on the Wednesday of the third week in August, for example.

NISD cheer teams make history

All three NISD high school cheerleading programs made history last weekend at the UIL Spirit State Championships, including a pair of state titles!

The Byron Nelson Bobcats won their third state title in 6A Division II, while the Eaton Eagles won their first state title in 6A Division I. Additionally, the Northwest Texans finished 14th in the state in the 5A Division I category, advancing to the finals for the first time in school history.

Reminder of inclement weather procedures

As we continue through a period of the school year where inclement weather affecting the school day becomes more possible, we'd like to remind families of our procedures for inclement weather and potential school closings.

One of the most important aspects of this process is that if no announcement is made, schools are operating on their regular schedules. Northwest ISD will make every effort to communicate any closure by 5 a.m. that school day. If schools close, communication would arrive in a variety of methods, such as through ParentSquare, a phone call, social media and the district website.

For more information about inclement weather and school closings procedures, please read these frequently asked questions.

Byron Nelson alum carries daughter's memory to PGA TOUR

Hayden Springer, a Byron Nelson alum (Class of 2015) and professional golfer, was at the top of his game last month, earning his PGA TOUR card after tying for fourth place at the Final Stage of PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry. The former Bobcat will now go toe-to-toe with the world’s best golfers next season, but it’s been a trying and emotional two months for Hayden and the Springer family ahead of his Q-School triumph.

His young daughter, Sage, passed away in November at age 3 after battling Trisomy 18, a severe developmental disorder stemming from an extra chromosome. Sage wasn’t initially expected to make it out of the hospital after birth, but she persevered as a tough and happy little girl.

“She’s special,” Hayden told PGATOUR.com. “She’s very special. She’s so special, and we’re going to miss her forever. There’s no way around that, but she was strong. She was a fighter. We always said she had strength in heart, and that will stay with us forever.”

PGATOUR.com wrote about the Springer family, the joy that Sage brought to the world and how Hayden thinks of her often on the golf course. You can read that feature story here.

Help restock immediate needs in the NEF Resource Store and Library

The Northwest ISD Education Foundation’s resource store and library provides support to NISD teachers and students through free resources and educational materials. NISD teachers can “shop” for school and classroom supplies, snack packs, books and more. All items are free to district educators! This school year, NEF has served more than 940 educators from across the district!

You can help by donating from the store’s online wishlist. Immediate needs include wide-ruled composition notebooks, snacks, pencil boxes, rulers, calculators, index cards and books. You can also help by volunteering in the store! Volunteers help sticker and prep inventory, restock shelves and fulfill online requests from teachers.
