May 28, 2021
Last week we celebrated our confirmands and welcomed them into the church. Congratulations! I’m especially grateful to Olivia, Tessa, Madelyn, Isabel, and Philip, as well as to the leaders who helped: Lilly, Kelsey, and Tyler. Everyone decided back in September that because of the difficult time we were in, they wanted to do Confirmation. They did not want to wait until life got easier. They wanted to use this year to think, pray, and learn about their faith.
I hope you’ve done lots of thinking, praying, and learning this past year too. And hopefully you are seeing the fruits of that ripen. If not, take comfort: if we are lost, it is only for a little while. Another day, another week, another year is coming. And regardless of what it holds, we know that thinking, praying, and learning will be a necessary part of it. But together we also expect that joy, smiles, community, service, and some adventures will tag along as well. As Paul says in Romans, “I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory about to revealed to us.”

May you have a glorious summer and we hope to see you in September (if not sooner)! Amen.

2021 Confirmation Class
Sunday, May 23

In case you missed it: last week was Confirmation Sunday. Watch (or watch again) as these five youth are welcomed into membership of Nassau Church. And listen to Mark preach on Romans 8:1, 26-35
Sunday, May 30 - 10 a.m.

Guess who's preaching this Sunday? Mark is! This week on Romans 8:1-25. Will he remember that the service starts an hour earlier now that we've moved to summer schedule? Tune in to find out!
Free Books!
This summer, let your mind wander into alternate worlds, foreign lands, amazing lives, and innocent courage. The flight is on us. Pick a book from our list, or let us know a bucket-list read we can get for you.
Mark has some extras on the shelf so, reply by Wednesday June 2 and pick up your book on Sunday, June 6. (We hope!)
if not, we'll get the book to you ASAP!
Final Fellowship Date
Sunday, June 6, 2-4 pm - Parking Lot Hang Out

Final fellowship gathering of this program year: stop by the church parking lot to hang out, find out what everyone's doing this summer, what the seniors are doing next year - Mark will have snacks (ice cream?) and pick up your summer reading book - see above.

Rising 6th Graders and other new MS or HS Students are welcome!
Regular schedule resumes in September - see below.
Trip Dates
July 6-9: Middle School Splash Camp
July 12-19: Garden State Service Project
July 18-23: Bike the GAP (FULL)
Return your completed form and check made out to "Nassau Presbyterian Church" to the church office by Sunday, June 6, 2021, by mail or by using the new drop box outside the church building (parking lot side, bottom of the ramp).
Final permission & release forms will be distributed in early June.
Bike the GAP - practice trips
If you are going on the trip or you just want to get out on your bike, join Mark for one or both of the upcoming "practice trips":

  • MEMORIAL DAY MONDAY, May 31: 9am Meet at NPC Church. You can park in the lot. We’ll aim for 30 miles and hope to be back by noon/12:30. Bring $$ for snacks / espresso. Blinky lights are required, even as I suspect we’ll ride the canal path or the Lawrence/Hopewell Valley Trail.
  • Saturday June 5th, 9-2: Location TBD, but likely will be back at Washington Crossing. The espresso is too good.

Confirmation 2022
The process of joining the church as a youth begins with Confirmation: a time to think, pray, and learn about the Christian faith. At Nassau Presbyterian Church, this class is first offered to students as they are entering 9th grade, however any high school student who is interested is welcome!

We are planning for in-person classes for 2021-2022. An information session will be held in September or you can contact Mark Edwards with questions (609-933-7599 or email).

Blessings! Each of you have been a blessing to me, to our congregation and each other this year. We've zoomed to sing, lead many worship services and have so many videos to share. What a remarkable, connected community we have, and I give thanks for each of you. I look forward to all that we will continue to be and create in the life of our church.
