Archer Mayor's

Joe Gunther Novels

This highly acclaimed crime series featuring Joe Gunther, a police lieutenant in Brattleboro, is based on the author's own work for the Medical Examiner's Office of Vermont. The Chicago Tribune describes the Joe Gunther novels as “the best police procedurals being written in America,” and The New York Times calls Mayor "the bossman on procedures" and "one of the most sophisticated stylists in the genre." Gunther is a likable and sensitive hero, and the books are a perfect mix of interesting central character, settings, and plots. One of the best series around, encompassing 33 books already! Start with #1 Open Season and #2 Borderlines.
