The Rockbridge Breakfast Club is all about Local Community Action! Associates work together on projects of interest to improve the community including engaging local leaders, welcoming new residents, providing education and programs on the US Constitution and electoral processes, supporting, promoting and recognizing local charities as well as other initiatives.  


The Rockbridge Breakfast Club is comprised of “People with a Purpose” who are offering positive contributions to the Rockbridge County community. The Rockbridge Breakfast Club meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday at 8:30AM at the Pink Cadillac Diner in Natural Bridge. The Breakfast Club is a Virginia Corporation with a 501(c)3 designation.

A quote from Theodore Roosevelt epitomizes the “Spirit” of Rockbridge Breakfast Club associates and supporters: “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”   

2023 IN REVIEW

 

2023 was a pivotable period for the development of the nascent Rockbridge Breakfast Club. By-laws were developed, a Board of Directors were selected, we became a Virginia Corporation and received a 501© 3 designation from the IRS. This designation enabled us not to be a dues driven organization but rather a minimum donation organization, affording our Associates the legally allowable charitable donation benefit.  

 

Speakers over the past year have included Congressman Ben Cline, Senator-Elect Chris Head, Delegate Ellen Campbell, Commonwealth Attorney Jarred Moon, Lexington Police Chief Angela Green, Tom Rideout of The General's Redoubt, Former Lexington Registrar of Voters Jackie Harris, County Treasurer Candidates Missy Whitesell and Michele Clark, County Supervisor candidate Mack Smith and Breakfast Club Associate Bill Russel among others. Last July we staged a free community event "Celebrate Rockbridge" at Brewbaker Field in Lexington in recognition of our first responders and recently presented the inaugural Rockbridge Prayer Breakfast at VMI to raise funds for the Ronnie Campbell Memorial Scholarship. 


The Rockbridge Prayer Breakfast attracted nearly 200 attendees of whom we are appreciative of and hope that they will participate and support the Rockbridge Breakfast Club moving forward. 

 

January, 2024 Meetings 


Two Rockbridge Breakfast Club Meetings are scheduled for January, 2024 at the Pink Cadillac Diner at 8:30am: 

 

Tuesday, January 9, 2024: General Meeting. Attendees are encouraged to bring and share their resolutions for the coming year – not personal resolutions but resolutions for the Rockbridge Breakfast Club, Rockbridge County and the Commonwealth of Virginia. 


Tuesday, January 23, 2024: Meeting and Speaker J. David Gowdy. Mr. Gowdy is the founder and President of the Washington, Jefferson & Madison Institute (WJMI) established in 2004. For the past twelve years, WJMI has been providing continuing education courses to Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania secondary school Social Studies, U.S. Government and U.S. History teachers on the  American Founding, the Constitution, Bill of Rights and the lives and writings of the Founding Fathers. He is the author of “Seven Principles of Liberty” and “Jefferson & Madison’s Guide to the Constitution.” He serves on the Board of the Thomas Jefferson Heritage Society (Charlottesville, VA)
