Dear Assumption Community,
I am pleased to announce that the Interim Dean of the D’Amour College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (DCLAS), Paul Douillard, Ph.D., has been appointed Interim Provost. Professor Douillard brings to this position several years of experience at Assumption and will ensure that our academic programs continue to grow and reflect the Catholic liberal education the University promises and delivers to our students. His appointment is effective immediately and an Interim Dean of the DCLAS will be announced soon.
Prof. Douillard taught at Assumption for 26 years. During that time, he served as Dean of the Undergraduate College, Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs, and from 1980 to 1986, as Chair of the Philosophy Department. Following his service at Assumption, Prof. Douillard served as Dean of the Undergraduate College at the College of Mount Saint Vincent and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Caldwell College. Prof. Douillard earned four degrees in Philosophy: a Ph.D. from Boston College; M.Ph. and B.Ph. degrees from Laval University; and a B.A. from Assumption.
A former member of our faculty, Prof. Douillard is committed to leading by listening. He shares my commitment to transparency and collaboration and I am grateful for his willingness to work with our community to enable a new chapter in Assumption’s ongoing story.
