Campus Safety & Reporting
Campus safety at CSS is our utmost priority for our staff and students. We have several items to bring to your attention, and as always, feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions or need further follow-up.
As you may be aware, Marco Lara, a Cheyenne Mountain High School Math Teacher, was recently charged with sexual misconduct and has resigned from his position in neighboring District 12. In the past, Mr. Lara taught Middle School math at CSS from 2007-2010. No inappropriate incidents were reported during his tenure at CSS, but we want our community to be aware of these allegations. CSS has and will continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement. If you have any information regarding this case or similar cases, contact the Colorado Springs Police Department at (719) 444-7000.
Additionally, please refer to our Parent - Student Handbook to review reporting procedures, additional resources, and policies (pages 40-41). We appreciate your efforts to review this handbook to ensure safety on all levels of the CSS campus.
We will continue to operate our routine safety drills starting next week. Our policy is to send a follow-up email to guardians on the day of a routine drill.
Our students' mental health and wellness are so important to the safety and welfare of our campus culture. We continue the search for a new school counselor and are accessing outside resources for support so those services are not interrupted. The position is currently posted here.
